What an experience.

Wednesday morning they post a great deal on admittedly an allocated bourbon. I am excited to order a couple for me and a couple for a friend walking into a Dr apt that can’t order for himself- Order Received and super pumped.

Go to work mention it to a co worker who jumps on and orders 2 so everyone is excited. His order gets a FedEx number and shipped….mine sits.

Thursday just now my co worker messaged me super excited about his bottles that his wife just signed for so I call Empire and ask about my order- placed on hold. Guy comes back and says “yeah we didn’t get our allocation so we have to cancel it”. I ask about the fact a later order got filled- he didn’t like that and said they just work the orders as they come in. Pointed out my order was first and even if they couldn’t fill my four there were clearly 2 available. Says well if there are other items in the order they won’t work like that….i say I can give him the other order number both only had the one item. Says oh well orders are just worked.

I then ask for a substitution since they have a different batch of the same item- “absolutely not – we don’t do substitutions”. I then ask him about the substitution preference option I saw as I checked my account and he said well even if they did substitutions he canceled my order anyway.

So I asked- to recap ordered first, watched a later order get filled, we might do substitutions but won’t because it’s canceled and wouldn’t have been canceled if I didn’t call to begin with. I asked for a manager was told her was one and there’s nothing more to talk about

I am not expecting perfection but at minimum I should have been contacted about a canceled order yesterday that didn’t require me to call for it to be caught. The fact a later one got filled , they give zero care and made no effort is just extra.

It’s Empire- they are the biggest and cheapest on the every day items and I doubt the owner will read or care about this given the business they do but that’s the customer service game there. If you order something and it doesn’t ship make sure you call so you can at least get it cancelled.

The place has great prices and plenty of options to choose from, but I have to say the customer service and training for the employees are awful. I had awful experience after purchasing a bottle that I had to put in my hoodie pocket because I was not offered a bag proceeded to walk out the store but stopped because I saw another item I wished to purchase. Which I stepped back grabbed the item and payed for. Once again I proceeded to leave and get stopped by an employee telling me to empty my pockets which I say no because they didn’t have a name tag or uniform on. This employee now begins to tell me give me my merchandise and tells the other employee to call the cops. So I tell them I have payed for both my items the employee goes no you didn’t look at you. By the way I’m a black male 5’7 180 pounds. So I at that point I’m furious and trying to show them my account statement that just had purchased but they have no WiFi and there is no signal anywhere. Then they tell someone to check the camera and when the person comes back tells them no I didn’t pay in which now I get even more angry. So then I go to the cashier who never asked if I wanted a receipt to say hey tell them I payed and presume to say I didn’t cash him out. So. Ow everyone is against me and making me look like I’m a thief. It took another employee who I never even seen to tell them I had two transactions and after it all I didn’t even get an apology

Not good. Stop treating us paying customers like common criminals. The young girls up at the counter act nice but behave like little snots. I was given a hard time because I asked for a 5cent bag.

Tons of selections… they should set something up like Home Depot to find what your looking for in store… prices are reasonable… If you are a person who enjoys wine, you will love this place… Definitely go check it out…

When I was looking to go to this place I went through the reviews and there were a couple that weren’t as positive (though clearly since the overall rating is 4.6 most people have a good experience) so I just wanted to note my experience which is that all staff were helpful and friendly, made sure to thoroughly answer a specific question that I had, and in general the “warehouse” vibe or whatever is totally fine and means there are a lot of options and plenty of space to check everything out (and there were also lots of staff if needed). So anyway thanks for the help and the competitive prices and I look forward to coming back the next time I’m in town.

Nasty “customer service” staff. Happily going elsewhere to spend my money. In this economy I don’t know where people get off acting like this. It’s laughable. And if you think it’s just me — try reading the responses they write to people’s reviews. Extremely unprofessional. Wish I had noticed that before because I wouldn’t shopped there.

On2/22/25 I went to Empire, I was in line one of 2-3. Blacks in line. The other 2 were together. As I put in my passcode on my phone. I turned around . And, a tall white security man was standing directly in back of me.It was as if he escorted me to the cashier. Not only that he had a smirk as if yes, I watched as you put in your phone passcode. The lone Black cashier alerted. him to , what had to have been some. White customers, who quickly slipped pass his nose.While he was so busy playing games with me.. She was not she said certain butt, it appeared so. Empire. Was paying this JERK, to help with lose prevention. They’re lost. He tried to follow up but may have been too little too late. It was some where between approximately between 10am and 10:30am. During the pre Christmas rush.

Very poor customer service experience. Went in with my wife to purchase wine and Very poor customer service experience. Went in with my wife to purchase wine and spirits for a party. It is typically our go-to place for large purchases for parties and BBQs. However, this time around the representatives were more worried about stocking the shelves, selecting pickup orders, making snide comments about being in their way, and jumping in front of our cart to get a reaction. As a result, we left our cart and made our way home and we will be sure to never bother them again. Empire Wine & Liquor does not want to be bothered nor needs our business.

This store is like heaven for any liquor fan. Very large selection. The space itself is not large but they’ve managed to make it appear so with the clever utilization of space: rows and rows of liquor as far as the eye can see. It boasts a great variety including wines and spirits. Here you’ll find a plethora of brands of beer, whiskey, rum, brandy, tequila, vodka, gin, and even a small selection of sake. The employees here are always readily available to assist you and not only are helpful but amicable as well. They have a good amount of cashiers that are fairly quick and efficient making your time spent waiting in line short. From my experience if you’re buying with others they’ll want to card everyone regardless of who is buying (that’s if you don’t appear to be 21 and over of course) but I learned that it’s a safety measure and a way to enforce NY safety laws when it comes to alcohol consumption and minors. Either way this is a perfect place to come to for liquor – especially if you’re looking for specific items.
