January 31, 2026 – When traveling and you’re looking for good pizza . . . stop and try “ Mellow Mushroom’s” pizza!
Our first time stop ( Lynchburg, VA) at one of the 160 locations of Mellow Mushroom . . . This organization started in Atlanta , GA back in 1974! Over 50 years later, expanded in 17 states east of the Mississippi River!
Wasn’t crowded, the decor caught my eye! Maybe folks know of “ the healing properties” of magic mushrooms? ( wink ) Looks like a fun place, good size bar, several strategically placed TVs around the restaurant, for those who like to catch their favorite sports team in action!
Our server, Wendy, handed us several colorful menus . . . convinced us of the freshness of a Greek style salad ! I was impressed with the beer selections ! I asked Wendy if the bar tender could fashion a “ black & tan” ? No problem!
After enjoying our Greek salad, Wendy asked if we liked to order an entree? We prefer a relaxed dining routine. . . sometimes when placing a salad & pizza order both items arrive at the same time! So we place our pizza order after finishing our salad. . . gives us time to talk politics & religion , and our Grandkids !
Our pepperoni pizza , half with onions arrived 10 or 12 minutes later ! Pizza enthusiasts will immediately notice the style of pizza to be a combination of style between a thin Neopolitan pizza & thicker crust pizza. I liked the fresh chewy dough, and extra cheese ! The sauce could use a bit more zesty seasonings , hey that’s just me. Overall a very good pizza , thank you!

Pizza was delicious. Service was great. Bootsy was our server snd he was great. Bobby, the manager, took care of some issues we had like a pro. We really appreciate his kindness. Our family of four had a very good experience. We had the Mighty Meat and The Prankster. Both really good with The Prankster being a good surprise.

This Mellow Mushroom location is super cute and a total vibe! I love how each location is unique with its decor but the consistency is in its food and service! They even have vegan options which our family seriously appreciates! I was recently there for a holiday party a the atmosphere was perfect. There Grinch Christmas decorations everywhere, a diverse group of guests and families, and just positive energy. Plus it’s a locally-owned franchise, so I love supporting neighbors. There is something here for everyone! The entire family will love it. Best part … the crust!!!! Sorry, I didn’t take pictures of the spread of food that was on the table…. It was that good!

Relondo was the best bartender I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His drinks and service were spot on. We enjoyed a cheesy bread appetizer, personal pizzas, salads and drinks. I would definitely recommend sitting in the bar area when he is working.

It’s a nice spot for large and small groups alike. The food is pretty good, although the pizza tended to be heavy and a little greasy. The food took longer than expected to come out given how busy it was, even a salad starter. The menu has valid meal options beyond just pizza, although the kids menu is limited.

I’ve been to a Mellow mushroom in Florida and this restaurant was great. We built our own pizza and it was amazing! Service was fine. My son and I got just before it got packed, even on a Tuesday night! Table, chairs and floor were very clean. Would go again.

Loved everything. Great drinks. Lots of variety to choose from. Alcohol and no alcohol options. Great appetizers at decent prices. Chill vibe inside. Lots of room in booth and at table. I am a plus sized person, the booths are comfortable. Pizza was fantastic nice crispy crust, plenty of cheese and toppings. The calzone was bigger than expected. We took half of each dish home for dinner later. Waitress was really friendly, quick and considerate. We will be back for another date punch for sure.

was visiting Natural Bridge and stayed in Lynchburg. Placed a pick up order and it was ready sooner than the time given. Went to pick it up. The server gave us our pizza. Double checked that out ranch was included. The server then made sure to ask if we wanted parmesan and chili pepper packets, which we did. The pizza was incredible. The staff was incredible. Made a long day of touring Natural Bridge worth it with great food to enjoy afterwards. Highly Highly Recommended!
