Absolutely one of the best Italian restaurants in South Florida. Lively outdoor setting along Coral Gables’ Miracle Mile. Excellent service: we came without reservations, didn’t have space inside but readily made space for us outside on a balmy evening, my wife wanted spaghetti putanesca, they made it specially for her even though it wasn’t in their regular menu. The ossobuco, accompanied by a champagne risotto was spectacular, the best I had without question. Will definitely return!!!

Fratellino Ristorante feels less like a restaurant and more like being let in on a very good secret, one that, inconveniently, everyone else already knows. This cozy, modern trattoria on Miracle Mile seats just 35 people inside, plus maybe a dozen outside, which means reservations are less a suggestion and more a survival tactic. Don’t be surprised if every night for the next couple of weeks is already booked. After more than a decade in business, Fratellino has earned its cult-like following the old-fashioned way, by cooking honest, soulful Italian food and treating guests like family.
The room is intimate, modern, and warmly elegant, with white tablecloths and walls dotted with family photos, most notably a large black-and-white portrait of the owners’ father and uncle as boys in Italy. It sets the tone immediately. This is not Italian by way of Instagram. This is Italian by way of grandma’s kitchen. Third-generation restaurateur Beto DiCarlo builds the menu around simple, high-quality ingredients, daily specials, and family recipes that have clearly stood the test of time. The accolades, including top restaurant in Florida according to Yelp, iHeart, Miami New Times, and the Miami Herald’s 50 Best list, feel less like hype and more like inevitability.
The pastas are the headliners, as they should be. The Lasagna Bolognese ($21), made from Grandma Ale’s recipe, is the kind of dish that makes you question every lasagna you have eaten before it, rich, layered, and deeply comforting without tipping into heaviness. The Spaghetti alla Bolognese ($21) delivers spectacular flavor from fresh ground beef simmered in tomato sauce, though it leans just a touch over-herbed. Enthusiastic, but forgivable. The Mediterranean octopus ($27) is a standout, tender, expertly cooked, and marinated in fresh herbs that enhance rather than bully the dish’s delicate sweetness.
Fratellino is consistently packed with loyal regulars who come for housemade pastas like the pillowy agnolotti di pera, linger over an excellent wine list, and stay for the warm, old-school hospitality. It is reasonably priced, deeply authentic, and unapologetically intimate. Fratellino reminds you why the classics endure and why some tables are worth waiting for.
Worthy to know: a 20% service charge is added to lunch bills.

NOTE: Across the country, restaurants are increasingly adding automatic 18 to 20 percent service fees to customer bills in an effort to supplement worker pay and offset the federal $2.13 subminimum wage for tipped employees. For diners, however, these fees often feel like the latest squeeze, layered on top of already rising menu prices. This backlash has reignited a broader debate over how restaurant labor should be paid. Advocacy groups such as One Fair Wage argue the solution is legislative, eliminating the tipped wage altogether and establishing a universal minimum wage. At the same time, some restaurants are experimenting with all-in pricing models that build labor costs directly into menu prices, eliminating tips and surprise fees. Lawmakers are also stepping in with new transparency laws aimed at banning junk fees by requiring restaurants to clearly disclose all mandatory charges upfront. Nevertheless, looming over every reform effort is the National Restaurant Association, which represents the $600-billion restaurant industry and has spent decades successfully lobbying against minimum-wage increases.

It would have been embarrassing to lick the plate but I could have. This was by far the best Italian restaurant we have been to. The owner took care of us and was so kind and personable.
We will definitely be back!

Fratellino is an all around 10/10. It’s one of the few restaurants where we’ve had perfect food and service together. Beto made us feel at home every moment – great recommendations, comfortable seating, treating me for my birthday. New favorite spot & highly highly recommend!

Outstanding food and experience at Fratellino. I had the veal parmigiana from the specials menu, and it was terrific! Great service, too!

Paying $55 for a small piece of sea bass with fried potatoes and raw broccoli felt overpriced. The quality was acceptable, but the portion size and overall execution didn’t match the cost.

Fratellino is the kind of restaurant that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into something special. Last evening, my husband, daughter, boyfriend, and I had an incredible meal, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a memorable evening.

This family run spot is small and charming, with an atmosphere that’s warm and welcoming. The owner greeted us personally, which set the tone for the entire night. All staff were attentive, genuine, and full of heart.

We started with bruschetta and fresh bread, both absolutely delicious and the perfect beginning. Then came the insalata pera cotta… incredible. Every bite was fresh, balanced, and beautifully prepared. My daughter couldn’t stop raving about the Burratina — easily her favorite app of the night.

For entrées, the Pollo Francese was my favorite: tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed lasagna, cannelloni, and vitello alla saltimbocco, each one showcasing the kind of authentic Italian cooking that keeps you coming back.

And of course, we ended with tiramisu — the perfect sweet finish to an already outstanding meal.

If you’re looking for a place that delivers not only amazing food but also a truly welcoming experience, Fratellino is a must. This was more than dinner — it was a night we’ll remember, and we can’t wait to return.

I honestly regret not coming here sooner, especially after living in Miami for so long. But it was definitely worth the wait when my husband took me here to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary.

We tried the carpaccio, carbonara, ossobuco, and apple tart throughout the evening, and every single bite was amazing.

The service was top-notch as well. Our water and wine were always topped up, and the owner even came by several times to check in on us.

Although it’s a bit risky for them to be on UberEats, I can’t wait to visit again and try more of their delicious dishes in person!

Had an absolutely amazing experience at Fratellino in Coral Gables. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and authentically Italian. The service was outstanding attentive without being overbearing, and the staff truly made us feel like valued guests.
The food was phenomenal. Every dish tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor, clearly made with high-quality ingredients and a lot of care. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauces were rich and delicious. You can really tell this is a place that takes pride in traditional Italian cooking.
What made the evening even better was the overall vibe cozy, lively, and perfect for a memorable dinner. Whether you’re going for a date night, family dinner, or just craving great Italian food, this spot delivers.

We liked our waiter who was friendly and helpful. We tried the tricolor salad which was fresh and excellent, and fried provolone in a delicious orange sauce with oregano and peas – also very tasty.

For mains, we tried the spaghetti bolognese because I’m a sucker for a great bolognese with the hearty red sauce and a delicious sliced sausage home made pasta dish which I believe was one of the specials. Great wine by the glass list to select from. To finish it off, we went with the traditional tiramisu, which I can’t resist at a good Italian restaurant.
