My wife and I drove from Rockville, IN for a first time lunch visit to Richards on January 5. We had their Hot Bar buffet which included on this day, fried chicken and meatloaf. The Hot Bar also included the Cold Bar with all kind of salad fixins. Everything was great! The homemade bread was to die for. We ate WAY too much! And we lucked out in that for January, the Hot Bar was only $12.99 a person. It is their 50th anniversary I think. Kudos to them. Keep up the good work! We’ll be back.

This place is phenomenal. Literally best home cooked food I’ve put in my in years. It was like eating at grandma’s house. The service is top notch the servers are so kind. Everything here is home made. Doest disappoint. We traveled two hours. Well worth it. Absolutely delicious. The home made cinnamon bread with the home made strawberry jam absolutely phenomenal. Thank u so much I’ll be dreaming about this food until next time.

Enjoying the hot bar in 2025 was a treat, it takes me back to the good old days. The salad bar was well stocked, the ham bean soup and potatoe soup were perfect. Bread was soft and fresh. The hot bar was absolutely perfect for a big lunch. The chicken is fried and delicious, and the meatloaf is sweet and tangy. I could eat an entire plate of the whipped mashed potatoes. The atmosphere is classic and the music reminded me of my grandparents. If you’re heading from Indy to St. Louis, check out Casey and grab lunch here before hitting the road.

This gem is located in Casey, Illinois, on a functioning farm.
Upon your arrival, perhaps as a recommendation from a local, hotel services, or just to see the largest pitchfork, etc., you notice a garden off to the side. A sign greets and welcomes you to stroll through. A step back in time, a small, yet beautiful garden with a pond, a sitting area. But as you follow the path, past the garden and tool sheds, it leads you around the property, opening up and unveiling the chickens, goat, and sheep that call this place home.
We were seated immediately. The atmosphere is farm/stable structure with many antiques, decor, and scenery of country living.
Our server was wonderful and helpful with recommendations.
Appetizers are very filling. Generous portions. We definitely needed to go boxes.
Burgers and salmon are wonderful options here. And the serving sizes are Generous.
There is a salad bar, as well as a soup and bread station, should you choose those.

I highly recommend coming here if youre passing through, visiting Casey or any local town.

Today was our first trip here in a while. We came for the Sunday buffet and it was very good! Homemade entrée is the norm here, fried chicken, salmon, ham, meatloaf and all the fixing made for a great comfort food experience, which with the chilly temps made it even better. Desserts were fantastic, hand dipped ice cream and rolls and jam also very good.
Now we want to come back for the menu to try the steaks and the famous 1 lb pork chop!
Great atmosphere, very nice people and a great family behind the experience. 100% recommend!!

I was a little skeptical when I picked it. I come from the midwest, and barn style restaurants can be hit or miss. Richards was fabulous. Decorated in a loaded way, but not in your face. It’s to be expected from a barn. The food was fabulous. I had the salmon, and it was delightful. The broccoli had a nice balance of broccoli and butter flavors. The ice cream had a distinct taste that did not feel like traditional vanilla. Totally worth a stop if driving through the area.

This restaurant’s greatest selling point is its atmosphere, which starts all the way in the parking lot with their world’s largest pitch fork. The interior is cozy and immersive, and as you are being taken to your seat, there is a bit of an antique-scape that unfolds before your eyes.

I enjoyed the food, but I felt it was slightly overpriced and that their buffet selection was rather small. Their service was fine. Again, their atmosphere is their strongest asset.

If you are in the mood for food that tastes like a home cooked meal, this is a great place to stop.
