We went for an early dinner during happy hour. Happy hour menu is a good value. We wouldn’t pay full price for the chicerones, but 5 bucks at happy hour is worth it. Guacamole was excellent with salsa Verde, pay more for the large it’s worth it. For the main dish we tried the carnitas plate and three item combo. The Chile relleno was exceptional. Carnitas high marks. Would come again on an early or late summer afternoon.

We had dinner here as part of the Dine Downtown promotion that local restaurants participate in. La Cosecha featured a 4-course prix fixe menu. Every bite was delicious. We started out with pozole, then shrimp bruschetta, followed by a carne asada plate and finishing with churros and ice cream. The flavors were absolutely incredible! The service was warm and friendly, and the overall location and vibe of the restaurant was just wonderful. We’d come back for the shrimp bruschetta alone, but the restaurant really is great all-around.

Honest to God one of my favorite food places anywhere. These carnitas chilaquiles are the best I’ve ever had. The Michelada was perfect. I ate my meal at the outdoor bar watching some basketball, absorbing all the colorful art and listening to relaxing Mexican music. The service is friendly and punctual. Sacramento is lucky to have this place. It’s rare.

Came in for happy hour and ordered the guac and al pastor tacos. The tacos were SO flavorful and had a generous amount of meat, very satisfied for such a good happy hour price. Service was great, it was rainy so we sat inside but I’ll definitely be back to enjoy the patio!

Not the best not the worst. The place was clean and good music was playing.

The carne asada was tough and chewy but still consumable and tasted very good, portions were good. Salsas were very good.

The 3 leches cake was not 3 leches, it was dry.

The waitress was sweet.

The margarita was hard to drink… It tasted like actual medical alcohol.

They have a nice outdoor area with bathrooms outside.

Only had a white mocha but I want to go back! I was the only one there… not sure it was much after 10am on a Tuesday morning. But what a cool funky eclectic pace! And Tom’s of room! I’ll bet it gets fun here!

Location is great , so much shade, if you want to sit outside, I was there at 11 am. Food was amazing. I got the el pastor tacos and they were so good and the plate was big. Service was great too , very fast. Very attentive employees.

Have no idea where these 5 stars are coming from! Just pass altogether as there are way better places to eat Mexican food in Sac.
We went as a party of 4 around 4pm on a Saturday in the summer heat. We walked up to what looks cute and aesthetic. We waited for 5 minutes at the host booth outside for someone to greet us and figured well let’s check if it’s okay to sear ourselves. As soon as we opened the door the arrogant waiter said to go back outside and wait as he didn’t have time to seat us yet. That should’ve been our sign to leave. But we waited and he came asked if we prefer inside or outside. We asked if AC was on inside and he said yes. It was hotter inside than outside so I was drippin sweat trying to enjoy dinner. We asked the waiter a few questions and he seemed bothered. Maybe because he was stressed he was the only one waiting on tables for the entire place. Luckily there weren’t many people there.

Food and drinks were all below standard. I ordered the cucumber marg it was terrible. Lacked a balance of flavor to alcohol. The tequila used overpowered the cucumber. The old fashion my husband ordered was fine and my friends pineapple drink was all juice. He forgot my mom’s ice tea and she asked to switch to an horchata instead since they hadn’t poured it yet. My mom ordered an horchata which was bland without sweetener.
The food arrived promptly so they deserve a star for the quickness from ordering to having the food out.
We ordered:
Chips and Salsa – good salsa very mild and expected.
Queso fundido – was like velveta cheese or nacho cheese. They say 3 cheese blend but not even the chorizo can hide the fake cheese flavor. Our fault as I assumed it’d have queso Oaxaca as they quote all over their menu where the recipe is from. Guess they know better on that. 1/10
Torta de Milanesa – which was a pork chop fried. Absolutely not milanesa as a milanesa is a pork cutlet pounded thin and fried. 2/10
Enchiladas verdes with chicken – the tortilla seemed straight from the bag and warmed in the micro then a lil sauce thrown on top. They were very dry. Least they had a little spice. 3/10
Pozole rojo – least that came with a lot of meat and was standard with flavor. We asked for spicy salsa as usually you get Chile de aceite to add which it didn’t come with. The waiter said he had Chile de arbol so we expected to get a salsa with heat but nope. 5/10
Combo plate with Chile relleno and tamal – this plate was served with black beans and rice. The rice was decent. Beans had zero flavor and it would’ve been nice to have an option for an alternative. The chile relleno and tamal were smothered in an orange sauce which drowned any flavor as it reminded me of a sauce made with a base of chef boyarde tomato. The chile relleno looked like it was made with chile poblano which is a great start but don’t smother it in a horrible sauce. The tamal probably would’ve been good if it didn’t have the sauce on it. 3/10

Lastly, the waiter’s arrogance with the heat was a complete souring. I would give more stars had the customer service been great. However, never complain about customers in front of other customers. (The waiter was a short older man)

What’s also with a 3% kitchen staff fee?! Since when do you not price your food to pay your staff accordingly or require the waiters to split a percentage from their tips. Especially after the waiter justifying why chips and salsa are no longer free as the work and ingredients that go into it have to be paid.

Disclosures: I am Mexican and have traveled all over Mexico. Never have I ever tried these so called authentic flavors or been so disappointed. Being an avid cook who makes food from scratch they definitely need to revisit recipes and products they’re using. Too bad as I really wanted to find a new place that has great drinks and food.

Exceptional Experience at La Cosecha by Mayahuel!

I recently visited La Cosecha by Mayahuel and had an outstanding experience. Salvador, my bartender, was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch.

Fernanda was also very helpful and ensured that our needs were met throughout the evening.

We started with the chips and salsa, which were fresh and flavorful. The guacamole was truly fantastic – creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned.

Overall, I highly recommend La Cosecha by Mayahuel for its excellent food, exceptional service, and warm atmosphere. Can’t wait to return!
