From the moment you walk up to Kelleher’s, it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s located in downtown Peoria among all the historic brick buildings, and the wrought iron gates paired with the classic Irish font make it feel so charming and inviting. Walking inside is just as impressive — there’s greenery everywhere, a cozy fireplace right at the entrance, and all kinds of different tables and chairs that don’t match at all… in the best way. I loved that detail, it adds so much character.
There are decorations everywhere you look: fish hanging from the ceiling, mermaids, historical pictures, doors, windows — so many unique and artistic touches that make the space feel almost like a gallery. One thing that really stood out to me was the layout. The building has such a unique shape, and it felt like each table was thoughtfully placed and somewhat sectioned off with doors toward the front, giving everyone privacy. I thought that was really cool.
We started with the Irish chips. They were bacon and cheese-covered wedges. The cheese had really good flavor. For our main dishes, my husband and I both ordered the maple bacon Swiss chicken sandwich. I’ll be honest, I was a little apprehensive when I saw it was made with a chicken thigh rather than a breast. It wasn’t my favorite choice, but the Swiss cheese and bacon definitely helped, and I still ate most of it. I got sweet potato fries for my side they tasted good but they would have been even better if they were crispier!
Our server, Jailynn, was so sweet and soft-spoken and made us feel very comfortable. After our meal, I couldn’t help but walk around and really take in the restaurant. Luckily, it wasn’t too busy, so I was able to explore the back of the space and even go up the staircase to check out the super cool circular booths upstairs.
This place is incredibly fascinating and artistic. I absolutely loved taking my time looking at the pictures and décor on the walls. Honestly, that ended up being my favorite part of the experience. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying something different next time!
Little more attention to detail on food being served.
As far as my entree was concerned Every one’s else was good.
I will be back.
Wish I would have taken a picture to show you.
the atmosphere was great.
We started out with the Irish chips, which were delicious. One of us had the Guiness beef sandwich and the other had the turkey, bacon, avocado club. Both sandwiches were really good. Fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations.
On top of great food, the atmosphere is really comfortable and the building is gorgeous. Definitely worth a visit. We would certainly visit again if we are in the area.
