We were a group of about a dozen and visited during a weekday evening for dinner. Food choices were vast with numerous veggie options, as well as plenty of options for pescatarians and non vegetarians. I ordered the pan seared salmon which was presented well and tasted very good. I also tried the Green Machine sushi roll which included about a dozen pieces. The Green Machine included avocado, Cucumber, rice, marinated tofu, etc. It was better than I thought it would be and I would order it again. The crab meat sushi was also very good but I liked the Green Machine sushi better. All of this was washed down with a Dog Days (Analytical Shandy) on draft. Overall, the experience dining in at Anju Above was very good. I like the restaurant concept of Farm to Table. I would definitely recommend.

Over all a great experience! Good food and service although I will say I was disappointed that our waiter didn’t actually explain how the little prize drop worked until after we had paid our bill and couldn’t get them. It’s every 12 plates we did 16 and he was wanting to see it and thought it would be fun for our 5yr old but the staff was friendly and quick and the sushi was good!

Had a fantastic date night there with the wife, would love to go back at my next opportunity. Super cute and enjoyable atmosphere, the only negative is that the music was a tad too loud and made talking a little hard.

Food was great. Mushroom pizza was easy to eat with a good crust. Korean crispy chicken was great texture (the sauce had a bit too much gochujang paste in it for my personal taste, but it was good). The cornbread was good enough to start flights over. Sushi was good, although I admit I’m not the best judge of sushi. Creme brulee was awesome.

It has a very cool setting but the music made it very difficult to have a conversation, it took an hour for our main dishes to come out (and they came out one at a time), my drink order was forgotten and not brought out until after the main dishes, our water glasses were empty and not refilled until we asked twice, and we had to request chopsticks twice before we got them. Most of our main dishes were pleasing to the eye but not very flavorful (the appetizers were good and arrived quickly), which was unfortunate because we were hoping it would be delicious and make up for the long wait. Our server was very nice and polite but we spent most of time at Anju feeling hungry, thirsty, and fighting to hear each other over the music. Given the high ratings here, I’m hoping that this was just an off night and usually things are quite good!

It has a good vibe to the restaurant, and the food was fantastic. If you want a more quiet setting sit downstairs. If you like an upbeat vibe with louder music ask to sit in the upper level. I feel like it was a little pricy for Bloomington but you get what you pay for. It’s worth the price for great food and great service.

My dining experience at Anju Above tonight was nothing short of delightful.

From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I was captivated by its elegance. Service was prompt; we were seated quickly, and our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

For starters, I indulged in the Fried Veggie Dumplings and a Yellowfin Tuna Hand Roll. The fried dumplings were a true delight, perfectly crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor. They paired wonderfully with the tangy pickled vegetables on top. As for the hand roll, it was a taste sensation. The yellowfin tuna practically melted in my mouth.

Moving on to the main course, I was thoroughly impressed with the Pork Belly Ramen. The pork belly was exceptionally flavorful and tender, adding a richness to the dish. What truly elevated the ramen experience was the side of sweet and spicy sauce, which, when added to the broth, turned the dish into something extraordinary. The soft-boiled egg was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right, while the mushrooms added a depth of flavor that left me craving more.

Overall, my dining experience at Anju Above exceeded my expectations.

I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their enticing menu options.

This is hands down the best place in Bloomington. The service is top notch! The bartenders Matt, Max, Zack, and Ali make the best drinks and provide the best service and conversation you could ask for. If it wasn’t for Vince this place may fall apart. We visit at least once, if not twice a week, because of the consistency with the service and the people that work here! They make it a 10/10 – definitely recommend if you are looking for a great place staffed with fantastic people!

To be able to support a wide variety of menu options and achieve this level of quality is a fantastic feat. I’ve recommended this place to friends, family, and travellers for 10 years.
