Went early Saturday, food was hot and so good. Nice atmosphere feels like History. Good music playing. Staff was super attentive and nice. We were the only sitting table, but seen a lot of takeout orders going. Will visit again to try more of the menu.

While visiting from the 757 area, I stopped here for lunch. Oh my, I was anxious from the time I walked in. Mekiya was very attentive and helping me decide what to order. The wings were cooked just the way I like them. The Mac & Cheese was really good. The rice was not cooked completely. I looking forward to my return visit to try the liver and onions. Thanks again Mekiya, and I hope to see you when I return.

So good and the service was excellent. I had the 3 sides – braised, cabbage, collard greens, and sweet yams. Yummmm!!! My husband enjoyed the fried fish which was incredible, the breading was light and flavorful. We highly recommend this spot! Definitely get the sweet tea

Truly a must visit place. We saw a lot of door dash pickups but experience going in and having a nice meal as well. The waitress was great and knew her menu. Answered any questions we had.

I’m a little late on this review (I posted on FB and forgot to post on here) but yeah, we decided to have dinner here at the end of July. I had the fried pork chop, and my husband had in his words, “The best liver and onions he’s ever had.” He still couldn’t convince me to try them, but he tore that plate up! Hahaa! Great food and great people. They’re super nice to all who dine with them which is exactly the type of businesses we want! Ate lunch here on New Years Day. It was incredible! I travel extensively for work to Charleston, Savannah and other small town on the south and thus place beats them all. The space is the epitome of old town Petersburg. Kiyah, was super nice and helpful. The menu was short and sweet. We had ribs and liver and hamburger steak with with Collards and candied yams, mash potatoes and mac and cheese. Of course the sweet Cornbread was great.
If you are in Petersburg or anyplace close, don’t miss out on a great dining experience!

From the time that we walked in until the time we left, we were treated with professionalism and service with “a smile.”
To top this off, the meals were delicious with large portions, to the point we had to get carry out trays. We visited this restaurant from a recommendation from a friend and took the drive from Chesapeake,VA. Yes, it was well worth the drive. If you’re ever in the mood for some good SOULFOOD with a pleasant atmosphere, I suggest trying this restaurant!!

Beautiful huge chandelier in dining area. Music videos on TV. Pretty dining setup. Attentive and nice staff. Parking lot across the street. Food was excellent. Some veggies say cooked with meat but aren’t because not everyone likes that. Fried fish was good but watch out for bones. Greens, potato salad and sweet potatoes were very good. The Mac and cheese was bland and could be better with an added cheese sauce. Cornbread was dry and flavorless. They put a slice of bread on the plate under the fish, I guess to absorb grease. All in all we’ll be going back to try their other dishes.
