This pizza shop serves some of the best darn pizza in Pittsburgh, and it continues to deliver especially on a busy night like First Night in Pittsburgh, just hours before the New Year ball drop.

My son and I stopped in to get out of the cold and grab a quick bite, and Giovanni’s was the perfect choice. While this is my official first review, it’s definitely not my first visit.

Ordered the Medium 14” Traditional Pizza – $15.99

Red Sauce
Pick-Up Special Medium Cheese $9.99
Bottle Water $1.50

Pre-discount Subtotal: $17.49
Discount: –$6.00
Subtotal: $11.49
Tax: $0.81
Total: $12.30

The pizza was exactly what you want from a classic downtown spot hot, fresh, cheesy, and satisfying. Simple, no gimmicks, just quality pizza done right.

Quick and efficient, especially considering the New Year’s Eve crowd. Orders moved smoothly and without unnecessary delay.

Warm, welcoming, and perfect for a brief stop during one of the busiest nights downtown. A great refuge from the cold while the city buzzed with celebration outside.

Giovanni’s remains a downtown Pittsburgh staple for a reason. Great value, dependable quality, and a go-to spot whether it’s a normal night or one of the biggest nights of the year.

I’ll definitely continue stopping by and recommending it to anyone looking for solid pizza in the heart of the city.

We went to light up night in Pittsburgh and ended up getting slices at Giovanni’s. Loved it! The pizza was really good; can’t wait to go back! It was a bit hectic inside, but I’m sure that was in part due to it being light up night.

I’ve had pizza all around the world in my 51 rotations around the sun. From NYC to Rome to LA to Toronto. This, honestly, might be the most aggressively MID slice I’ve ever had. It’s damn near impressive that this place has pizza so bad but no lack of customers since it’s near the stadium.

We dropped in for a slice before the game. We were told it’d take 15 mins, it took closer to 45. The order was mixed up. Half the sodas were out of order. There appeared to only be one person working.

The pizza itself was just terrible. No crust. The cheese had no pull. Worst of all the sauce was oddly sweet. Maybe this is a local thing, either way it wasn’t good.

The only redeeming quality of this place is the clean restrooms and the cost. Only blew $3 so at least I didn’t feel horribly ripped off.

Avoid at all costs.

I work at the hotel next door and I’ve been a loyal customer since I started about a year ago. Today 8/14/25 me and my best friend ordered food from here like we always do. She ordered a chicken salad and this is what she was served. There is no option to take off anything from the salad only to add. There should be something where we can make comments on the food we paid for.

Probably one of the low-key best pizza shops in the city. If you like Fioris or mineos this should definitely be in a conversation with them.
I’m writing this five star review simply because I cannot believe they have a 3.9.
The cheesy bread twist are absolutely amazing with a side of pizza sauce, the plain pizza hits every time they have a sweeter sauce and a pretty dense cheese Definitely one of the top five pizzas in Pittsburgh. I also get the Work pizza which is very good, get it well done as there are a lot of toppings on it. Also their wings are great too wings with wing dust 10 out of 10 every time.

It was fine for a late night bite, but I was not the biggest fan. Could get pepperoni for some reason, so plain it was. The sauce was too sweet for me and had an odd twang to it. The cheese lacked flavor. The crust was ok. Again, ok for a late night bite, but I wouldn’t choose it again.

Came here to attend a local convention, everything was closed for the 4th of July or to busy to seat people. This place was busy, but open late. The pizza I ordered is probably one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. The dough was delicious, good cheese, and savory sauce. I live 9 hours a way and I can’t find pizza in my area as good as here. I definitely can’t wait for my next visit. My friends and I all had a wonderful time here, thank you for the fast service even though the restaurant was slammed full of people. Not one of us had any complaints about the food. Only thing we were a little skeptical of was the mountain of plastic utensils piled up on the counter, but again, we understood because of how busy it was.
