Always somebody would explain to these people what country cooking is.. scrambled eggs are supposed to be scrambled. They consist on frying an egg and then cutting them with a spatula. It’s just not scrambled pretty bad when you advertise country cooking at its best and you serve crap

I recently visited Shirley’s Restaurant at 746 E Duval St, in Lake City, FL. I enjoyed my meal of bacon, eggs, grits, and a biscuit. Well cooked as ordered. The service was very good and I enjoyed my time spent there. Worth a visit

The best thing about Shirley’s was the sweet waitress.
Breakfast prices are reasonable, and they give a cash discount. The coffee was good and hot. The hash browns were above average – crispy, fresh potatoes. The grits would have been good except for the large, gooey lump in them. The cheese omelette looked good but was runny inside – not cooked long enough.
The bathroom was as filthy as a rural gas station’s. Looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since last summer. I’m Including photos.

The food here is always very good. The style of cooking and dishes served have a true country flair. The restaurant is always busy any time I’ve been there. Usually between 10 am and 2 pm. However, if you have to wait for a seat inside, it is not more than 10 minutes. There is plenty of outside seating available on the covered porch. Inside has a good mis of tables and booths. I notice there are quite a few regular customers that eat there. The staff is friendly, the portions are good and the food is very tasty.

This place is phenomenal! If you are from the south and used to meet up at Grandma’s on Sunday afternoon for lunch, this place will jog some memories. Quaint spot just off the road. Ample parking is available. We ate in a Thursday around lunch. On the daily menu, they had meatloaf, grill or fried pork chops, country fried steak beef stroganoff, salmon patties, and one other item I can not remember. With each lunch entre, you get two vegetables. The only vegetable I saw missing on today’s menu was fried okra. Our food was delicious and the portions were very generous.
We were just driving through Lake City. We’ve never been to the town before but it would be worth it to drive here again to eat.

This is a place where the locals go and l wanted to experience it. One of the things l ordered was French Toast it was not cooked well. I left most of it. I really never send food back if it’s not cooked correctly. The inside is a fun vibe with many items to look at on the walls. The parking lot is very small so it takes patience to achieve a spot.
