Sad to say I’m offically not a fan. This was my second visit. Said I’d not go back after my first time but it’s been a few years and I believe in second chances. Went at end of lunch rush about 1:30 PM. There was only 1 clean booth and about 4 tables. All others were piled with the trash and dishes from prior customers. I’m guessing like every other business, they’re short on staff. Tables did finally get bused all in one swoop while we were there. For ordering, you walk up and pay, then wait for your number to be called and walk back to pick up your food served in plastic baskets, styrofoam cups, atop plastic trays. There’s serve yourself stations for sauce, drinks, silverware, and other condiments. Two of us ordered the hickory salad. The pork was grated/chopped so fine it was like dust and lost any flavor. Served on top of a pile of lettuce with a little shredded cheese somewhere beneath it and 2 grape tomatoes. Absolute bare minimums of a salad. Lacked any hint of tasting like BBQ and texture wise was more like eating dry tuna fish. You couldn’t tell any difference. Today (a Monday) it was on special for $7 vs. the normal $10 for a small. It was a large portion and the saving grace was an open bar to serve yourself jalapenos, pickles, red onion, bacon bits and grab additional tomatoes and crackers. Crumbled crackers and bacon bits gave it some crunch, while the jalapenos I added made it more appealing. This trip I did opt for a small side of stew, which was flavorful and the only thing I’d eat again. Teenager in our party got fries, which are natural cut. They were overcooked so went mostly uneaten. Rare for a teen to leave any food behind. Did we have friendly service, yes. Was it clean, no. Did we enjoy it, no. This is just my experience and opinion. I know plenty of locals who swear by Briarpatch and won’t eat anywhere else. For me, it’s a pass in the future. Better options and quality for the money within a few miles.
Plus side: BBQ open on a Monday, easy in/out, drive through, self service stations.

I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. That’s why it gets 2 stars but the food leaves a lot to be desired. There was no smoke flavor at all and the green beans looked and tasted like they came from a can. I expect a lot more when I pay for a meal.

I ordered the Beef Barbeque plate with Brunswick stew and sweet potatoes fries. The portions were generous, the food was absolutely delicious. The sweet tea here is the real southern thing. The barbeque sauce is very tangy with what tasted like a vinegar base with a pleasant hint of clove. The service was good here. I suggest this restaurant for a pleasant meal without all the crazy crowds of the city. This is one of the few places I have eaten where I got genuine southern hospitality and it is a new favorite. The art murals on the walls are very beautifully done.

I come here every time I’m back in town. I now reside in Florida where they do not have pork taters!!!!! Black Friday specials we’re amazing and I even got two taters to take back to Florida with me tomorrow! Always yummy!

I have lived near this place for over 15 years and only just started going there a couple months ago. This place rocks. Food is good, cheap and plentiful. And this may seem like a minor detail but when you ask for a water you get a free bottled water. Like I said this may seem trivial but I think it’s the icing on the cake. The barbecue sandwiches are execellent, and they have several different sauces, all of which are good. Service is always pleasant, even though it’s a self serve place, the staff are always polite and friendly.

Really? This is what they have become. Everything too well done and this fries had so much salt, not even edible. We have been coming here for years until now.

This place is okay, the meat needs sauce to taste good. But it looks nice and it’s very clean.

Great place! Food is really good despite the strange layout. Get the hickory fries. Funny enough they are on the salad menu.

Ok food but over priced. I miss the old Briar Patch before the fire.

Order wrong AGAIN. I also had to wait a very long time after being parked for a simple order.
