Black Bear Diner at Danville California is a popular restaurant serving comfort American cuisine in a warm and welcoming environment. We went there as a family for an evening meal. We relished their Coffee, Soda, Kids’ Mac & Cheese, Chips, Salmon, Onion Rings, Salad, Big Bear Burger, Corn Muffins and Ice Cream Sundae. The dishes were fresh, well cooked with large portions and delicious. Their ambience of wooden and bear decor is unique and exquisite. The staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and great. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Sat at the bar. I ordered a pretty big meal since I had fasted the day before. The food was pretty decent. Nothing blew me away as especially flavorful but the lady serving me at the bar was very sweet. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing.

So I went here on Mother’s Day a couple days ago. Can I say I chose here because I really wanted a home cooked meal kinda feel without cooking or cleaning up. Essentially taking myself out for Mother’s Day. I was til black bear diner would be nice, however my experience with my food was not.

The salad had brown in it and chunks of lettuce in blocks and not broken up. (Pictures included of all) in my nieces as well which was also the only thing she ordered.

The kids meal chicken tenders were cooked over (or reheated) the fries looked as if they were also cooked over.

I ordered pot roast, with mashed potatoes, and their Mac n cheese. The roast was dry and covered with way too much gravy. And the Mac n. Heese was served cold.

I don’t want to complain, but I’m just saying maybe don’t go there if you’re expecting a good dinner. I mean it was Mother’s Day, if this is how they cook for a day like that what’s it like regularly.

I will say the lady that cashed me out was really sweet and there was an employee that went around saying happy mothers to everyone that was really sweet, and I appreciated it. That’s why atmosphere a 3. But I’m disappointed that I took myself out for a special dinner with my kids and this is what I got.

First time here. I try the coffee ☕ which was good. We ate the Sanra Maria trip trip or something like that. It was good. Rene our server was very nice to us and we enjoyed his great customer service in Spanish. He asked us if we wanted to be help in Spanish or English as many people are embarrassed to speak. Which was a plus Plus ❤️❤️. Thanks for your consideration. I usually take pictures but I was enjoying my company that I forgot.

Wow! The restaurant was so enjoyable. Usually we go to the Hopyard diner. But, I heard the Danville location had changed so off for an adventure.
We sat at the counter to watch the action. The place was packed. The staff were so nice and great sense of humor!
This location also has a meeting room which was in full use. I did wonder if they held birthday parties there.
If you have not been in lately go for a good time, treat yourself.
Also, there was a QRcode so you could follow your BBD experiences. We have been to these ones- Mt. Shasta; Vacaville; Monterey; Pleasanton & Roseville. Where will your next BBD experience take you?

There’s a cook, his name is Jose, he’s worked the lunch shift for the past 2 days I’ve been. The man knows how to season his food. Had a 10oz steak seasoned so well that steak sauce was not needed. A first for this carnivore who frequents steak houses regularly. Today I had the chicken breast club with avocado. Again Jose brought the flavor. If you appreciate well seasoned, not just salted, food you’ll want to stop in and enjoy the flavor. Jose is this Bears gem.

Had brunch with my crush. I ordered the special steak over med, eggs over easy w/ fried potatoes, white toast and coffee. He ordered chicken fried steak, eggs over med, hash browns, wheat toast and coffee. Janet our server was awesome. Not busy, low key crowd. Our 2nd time there and each time was a pleasure. Sorry no picture of food… Forgot.

I have loved Black Bear Diners but won’t be going anymore, not until they switch to a more healthful and less harmful cooking oil. Black Bear cooks with Soybean oil, a highly processed seed oil, which is full of Omega 6 oils which are linked to promoting inflammation and age related issues. Grateful for all the genuine people out there who have brought to the forefront how bad seed oils are for us. I don’t recommend.
