I ate at this restaurant today and every single dish was delicious. I especially recommend the poulpe and foie gras — both were amazing. The staff were also very warm and welcoming, and extremely friendly to international visitors. It’s definitely a place I would recommend to my friends!

Au Petit Marquis in Versailles is a traditional French restaurant that aims to offer classic, home‑style dishes in a cosy, old‑fashioned setting. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of what we had hoped for. The dishes we ordered were, overall, poorly prepared and in some cases barely edible. The escargots were served so overcooked and overheated that they had a rubber‑like texture, and the boeuf bourguignon was nothing like the slow‑braised, flavourful classic one would expect. Instead, it arrived as a single piece of meat with a thick layer of pork fat, a few mushrooms, and a rather bland sauce. The only dish we genuinely enjoyed was the dessert, although it was a touch too sweet.
On a positive note, the service was very friendly and genuinely tried to make up for the situation. The staff acknowledged the issues and, in the end, did not charge us the full amount, which we appreciated. The restaurant had been recommended to us by the concierge at the Waldorf Astoria Versailles, so we were quite surprised to encounter this level of cooking.
Overall, it was a disappointing culinary experience and, despite the kind service, not a restaurant I would recommend.

We LOVED this place so much. It had a family-run feeling (at least most def not a chain) and exactly as I imagine a french restaurant at it’s best – private, cosy, French, unhurried. I would have gone back for another visit if I had been here more than three nights. If you have only one night, go here.

The best restaurants I’ve been to in Versailles (as a local). Staff is warm, welcoming and friendly. The food’s quality is outstanding and the price is fair. The staff was very accommodating and catered to all our needs. I 100% recommend it ! Kid friendly and foreigner friendly

Adorable place, nice people. We started with escargot and onion soup. Escargot was outstanding, onion soup was eh ok to a bit bland with the onions a bit undercooked. Our mains were beef bourguignon and tartare. Again tartare was outstanding and bourguignon underwhelming.

What more could I ask for?

I recommend checking it out if you want a great place to discover French culinary delights.
Plus, it’s only 10 minutes away from the Château de Versailles

The lady behind was very rude behind the bar said “only drinks currently and the restaurant is closed”. Clearly it was only 2:00 p.m. and there are plenty of tables left. Never once communicated to come back later. I understand im American but if thats how you treat a foreigner visiting you sure know how to capitulate an impression on your country.

We found this great restaurant since we were looking for escargot. The food was enjoyed by all and the service was friendly and efficient. The salad and steak with fries were a welcomed change for these American tourist. A few photos of our food.

We had many meals in Paris before coming to Versailles. The Duck outdid any of them. I highly recommend.
