The best of the best. I’ve been to several Mexican food stops in KC. This one has me coming back over and over. The tamale (pork), burrito (carne asada with mole), papas taco. Also, guacamole enchilada hidden secret. Don’t walk run! Sooooo good!

My husband ordered his plate/tacos work flour tortillas and received corn.
I was told they put their jalapeño cheese sauce on the side for the tamale – there was none.
The tamale had good flavor.
The al pastor taco meat was cooked in something that made the meat reddish – it was disappointing to me, but other people may really like that flavor.
The brisket taco was delicious!
The cheese enchilada was ok.
The chips and salsa were good. There were 2 different heat levels of salsa served.
Refried beans were good, but I do wish I had tried the soupy or black beans instead.
I had water with my meal, and the waitress did not check on us to see if any beverages needed refilling, which is not the typical fire a restaurant that serves hot sals, pico, &/or spicy foods.
We chosen based on the reviews. Although okay, it was a disappointing anniversary dinner, after Saturday mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. We had to wait around 10mins to be seated. Ordered the custom plate with al pastor taco, carne asada chimichanga, and pork tamale. The food was just alright. The tamale felt a bit dry and the carne asada was a bit tough. I would try their other dishes if I were to come back again. The mojito though was refreshing and the salsa served with chips was made well.

Pitcher of margaritas smelled and tasted like nail polish remover. There were 5 of us. One person ordered the chile relleno burrito. Instead a chile relleno platter came. Server acted like it would be a quick fix. By the time it arrived (15 minutes later) we had ended up sharing my fajitas, which came out not hot and steaming. Just piled on a skillet that was barely warm. Plus the server wanted to argue about how long the remake took. Very disappointing.

El Patron was just okay. The food was pretty average—nothing special, honestly. The vibe felt a bit awkward, like something was missing, and the service wasn’t great, either. They did get the drinks right, though; those were actually good! But overall, it wasn’t the best experience. It’s fine for a casual hangout and drinks not for some special occasion.

Birthday dinner, food was ok. First time going, wanted to try something different. Small spot once inside, basic setting. Was stared at as I entered the door while wiping my feet, rainy out. We were seated menus placed Service, was ahh, she came back sat the silverware and Waters, asked what we wanted to order. We hadn’t even looked at the menu to decide. Asked for the dink menu, sifted through then we ordered drinks shortly after we ordered after recving the drinks. I ordered the custom dinner (burrito and enchilada chicken) not the average size as most other restaurants I’ve dined at) and Pina colada. Adding the asada taco which was good. My cousin had chips and salsa, when I arrived while sitting at the bar, nothing was served for the table. After getting our entrees, I saw the small amount of sour cream that was squared to my meal, politely ask for some sour cream, not thinking anything of it, definitely didn’t expect to be charged $2 for the same size cup as the salsa which came free after request of more.
Overall our bill was $78 for two.
The upcharge was not expected not advised when asked.
We enjoyed ourselves w conversation but not a place i would be a return spot.

The hostess was a little short with her tone and words. Once our table was ready and our party arrive. She said just go up the stairs in a rude way. The waitress was very friendly and was great with taking our orders. The queso was a little running compared to others.

Unfortunately, I don’t feel their food is consistent. My first time coming here was on Cinco de Mayo and EVERYTHING was wonderful. I went around 1:30p on a Wednesday this second time. My food was salty and seemed to lack the flavor I had experienced my first trip. The empanada definitely wasn’t worth $8. I had the same waiter both times. I forgot his name but he seemed to distracted with other things to be attentive to his customers.

We went at lunch, there was a wait to be seated, but it’s to be expected. Pretty small dining area. The food and service were good. Look forward to trying other dishes. I had the fajitas and felt full for the rest of the day.
