Would absolutely stop by again when we’re in the area (and certainly recommend it)!
my Harris Ranch I-5 return plans were thwarted by snow on the Grapevine. So it became a 101 NorCal ➡️ SoCal trip. given the timing of my travels, decided Buellton would be a good stopping point for fuel, bio, and food.
So then it became a question of what to eat. had been to the F-W Paso facility prior, but left shortly after sunrise, and the food venue wouldn’t have been open. Found Firestone-Walker had a taproom in Buellton, a very ‘wait, what?’ moment.
website made finding the seasonal menu for this location quite easy, since i could study the options remotely, had pre-planned my food order before setting off.
[the food]
without a bunch of AI adjective filter, it’s pretty much this. i got the tri tip sando with the steak fries, and it was properly tasty. the mix of arugula, bbq sauce & caramelized onions complement one another as if meant to be. huge kudos to Chef Alex Aviles for keeping the quality of ingredients up in the food to pair so nicely with the beverages served. nothing phoned in here, all aspects deliver.
[the service]
The staff was friendly, attentive and offered their assistance in pairing and choosing items. arriving right at open in many spots can be hit or miss, but the personnel here were firing on all cylinders from the moment i walked in. really appreciated the personal touches that were courteous casual professionalism; this isn’t a stuffy steakhouse, nor is it a greasy spoon or a soulless gigantocorpochain outlet. very low-key welcoming for a solo diner on a barstool.
they didn’t even trip on me bringing in my saffron jar and asking for a water, no ice, to infuse them into. that flexibility was sincerely appreciated, as this likely isn’t a typical thing. none of that ‘no outside food or drink allowed’ stuff from the staff or management.
[summary/TL;DR]
if you like good beer + food, and find you’re taking the 101 between California metropolises, Firestone-Walker Buellton should be where you stop for a legit yum meal, and don’t forget to grab something for later from one of their coolers.
S-tier food spot in Buellton, with really craft beer too. def worth a stop and visit.
We were staying in Solvang overnight so naturally had to visit Firestone in Buellton! Great atmosphere inside and out. It was a perfect sunny day outside with nice breezes so we decided to eat outdoors. It was relaxing, inviting and the service we got was top notch. Wife had a flight and I had pints of Oaktoberfirst along with a west coast IPA & hazy. Never could go wrong with anything at Firestone. Lol Food was also quite delicious. We were there on a Tuesday so had to go with their taco Tuesday deal! They are also kid friendly with a kids menu. Something for everybody! Our server was super friendly and nice! Kudos!
Thanks again FW and cheers!
The orange beer was fantastic as was the na.
Food was beyond bar food, lots to choose from and a good place for a variety of beer and food.
Waited 20 mins to sit @ 4:30pm, seemed a bit short staffed. As we left ppl were waiting about 40 mins.
We sat in the bar while we waited.
