Stefano’s Trattoria – Scott Joseph Orlando Restaurant Guide
Reviews
Few places where the waiters have your best interests at heart and recommend i don’t order more food as I might not br able to finish them. But everything was so good I wanted to have more, if only, I had more space in my tummy
First Impressions
A strip mall authentic Italian restaurant. Is it possible? We’re new to town and dont know all the popular local go-to restaurants. We stopped into the ‘Play it Again Sports’ next door and thought, what the heck, lets do it. So we walked in, and immediately Stefano’s Trattoria set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The owner himself greeted us warmly at the door, even sending over a complimentary caprese salad as a gesture of appreciation for being first-time guests. That kind of hospitality is rare and immediately made us feel at home.
Service Excellence
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly Ben, the bartender. Personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the restaurant, he walked us through the menu and even shared stories from his tenure at Stefano’s. His enthusiasm for the food was contagious—a true testament to the quality and consistency of the restaurant.
Starters
– Caprese Salad – not very visually appealing but fresh and flavorful.
– Pasta e Fagioli – hearty and comforting, a classic done with lentils and a bit different than your probably used to from the local Olive Garden.
– Garden Salad – basic house salad, crisp, fresh, with chunky tomatoes and cucumbers. The house vinaigrette was such a tangy concoction of perfection.
– Stuffed Mushrooms – the showstopper of the starters. Risotto and bacon stuffed inside mushrooms, topped with melted mozzarella. A creative twist that was rich, savory, and unforgettable. I’ll be ordering these every visit.
Main Course
Naturally, I had to try the lasagna. The marinara sauce was the star—robust, flavorful, and authentically Italian. The lasagna itself leaned toward a softer, more blended style, almost soup-like in texture. While my wife prefers a denser version, I found this preparation unique and delicious. Regardless of style, the flavors were spot-on and showcased the chef’s mastery.
Atmosphere
Stefano’s isn’t just about food—it’s about experience. The calm, family-like atmosphere was elevated by the pianist, whose music transported us straight to Italy. Whether Bologna’s rich food scene or Naples’ pizza culture, the melodies created a sense of place that made the evening magical.
Final Thoughts
Stefano’s Trattoria is the rare “hole-in-the-wall” that lives up to the myth. Exceptional food, heartfelt service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere combine to make this restaurant a gem worth revisiting. From Ben’s hospitality to the unforgettable stuffed mushrooms and the pianist’s enchanting performance, Stefano’s delivers on every front.
