We stopped in to try this place out while traveling. The chicken was delicious, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean. We got a Monday special and the price was cheaper than a chicken fast food place! The chicken sandwich was two chicken strips which is nice knowing the chicken wasn’t processed. We weren’t fans of the potato wedges -could have been cooked a little longer but overall we enjoyed.

I recently had the chance to try Mountain Fried Chicken after a friend highly recommended it to me, and I’m so glad I took their advice. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place takes their comfort food seriously.
The fried chicken was absolutely delicious. It had the perfect crunch on the outside—crispy and golden—while staying juicy and flavorful on the inside. There was plenty of meat on the bone, which made it even more satisfying. Every bite had that classic, down-home taste you hope for when ordering fried chicken.
I also really enjoyed the cole slaw. It was fresh, creamy, and had just the right balance of sweetness and tanginess to complement the savory chicken. For dessert, the banana pudding was recommended to me, and it definitely did not disappoint. It was rich, smooth, and full of classic banana flavor—exactly what you want to finish off a great meal.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that they even have a drive-thru, which makes it super convenient when you’re on the go.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend that people stop by Mountain Fried Chicken and give it a try. Great food, satisfying portions, and a convenient setup—it’s well worth the visit!

Best fried chicken and potato wedges in the area. And banana pudding that’ll make you slap your mama! Plus the only restaurant I’ve seen lately that had a 100 sanitation grade! And it’s not greasy! Dave cornered the market with a unique flavor and very nice service! Good people, good chicken, good business. If you haven’t tried it you need to. I just don’t understand why they’re not open on Sunday! All of us eat fried chicken in the south on Sunday! But Monday through Saturday they are a phenomenal option if you got a pallet for chicken among other things.

We drove 2 hours (From Morristown,TN)just to eat here after seeing someone make a video on tik tok about this place. We were not disappointed. We will 100% make that drive again to enjoy this restaurant. The staff is so friendly and the food is FANTASTIC!!!!! My husband has been looking for really good potato wedges ever since the place he used to get them from shut down. He said the potato wedges from here hit the nail on the head with how good they were. You guys are amazing!!!!

The food was decent, never heard of Mac and cheese with tomato sauce… don’t think that is mac and cheese…. would love to have the option of legit Mac and cheese, baked preferably. The chicken is indeed extremely greasy so the slogan is incorrect. The restaurant itself needs to be a bit cleaner, trash was overflowing everywhere, tables were dirty.. bathroom was clean which was nice. The food is priced very good, with you being able to get a good meal under $10, wish the drink refill station was available to guests rather than behind the counter but I assume they do this to avoid purchasing a second drink station since they have the drive thru. Drive thru was PACKED which was lovely to see since it is a small owned business. The dining room was as well and there was a line at the register the entire hour we were there. I will say the food was pretty decent, nothing to go crazy about but for the price and the small town feel, it was good. Even the kids meals were plentiful.

Went in today 1/27/26 through the drive-thru young lady was very helpful and they were cooking to order which was fine, but boy oh boy let me tell you I’m glad I did because the chicken, wedges and everything was seasoned too perfection.Everyone was working hard to get the orders out because they were very busy. The wait wasn’t long at all. Everything was 5stars. Thank you for the great food. Wish I could post pictures so I could show how seasoned to perfection it was.

The food here is amazing and simple. The line will get very long during busy hours. I waited 30 min and line was all the way to the door. The workers are pretty decent. But the food is amazing. Another special gem of Hickory, NC. By far the best fried chicken in the area, I really don’t think anyone comes close. The chicken is so crispy and full of flavor. All the side items are zesty as well. The staff are really friendly and cut up with each other and customers making the place feel like you’re visiting friends. They work hard too. The atmosphere is just a homely little place that stays clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this to anyone who want chicken and country home cooking. 5 stars all day.
