To celebrate my friend’s birthday tonight, we tried DonJito for the first time, and it was fantastic! The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lively. Plus, they have an amazing cocktail selection!
We had a fantastic time and look forward to visiting again soon. Thanks again, DonJito fam!

I read all the great reviews on this place but we had such a subpar experience. The worst part had to be the service. To start, parking in the area is a little tight (which we had accounted for) and just as we sat down my husband realized he had left his phone in the car, a pretty decent walk away. As the server had not come to us yet, he asked me to order him a beer in the meantime when they did come around. To his surprise, when he came back to the restaurant after being gone about 15 minutes, no one had taken our drink orders or greeted me, despite me flagging someone down a few minutes in. That should have been a sign to us how the evening would go. When our server finally did arrive, her approach was cold and she simply asked what we wanted, no greeting, nothing. We made the mistake of only putting our drink orders in, and again didn’t see our server for another extended period of time. I will say my drink was good, but a bit on the juice-side. Finally, she came back for our orders; we got empanadas, stuffed plantains and a sushi roll for apps. For dinner, the city island special for my husband and the shrimp trifongo for me. From there we waited….and waited….and waited. And then waited some more. Then the silliest thing happened (in retrospect). Our server came over to us and asked if we wanted dessert? We were so confused and had to remind her our food had not come out yet. She had no urgency, just a simple “oh” and left again. So odd she would’ve been asking us for dessert, because even if our food had come out, she hadn’t checked on us once. It actually made us think she may have forgotten to put in the order because about 10 mins after that interaction our apps came out. Empanadas are 2 small ones to an order, cut in half, the stuffed plantain had an odd taste and we couldn’t finish (it looked very pretty though) and the sushi was good. My husband enjoyed the city island but I could not get through the Trifongo, a dish I normally love. This had zero flavor an was completely bland with rubbery shrimp. When the server finally came back well over 30 minutes later and asked if I wanted to wrap my untouched food and I said no, she didn’t blink twice. Normally my husband and I would have brought our concerns to the attention of management but honestly we were so ready to get out of there and salvage what was left of date night. Total disappointment. Also, despite the name and menu, Donjito played almost no Spanish music. Instead the night was mostly alternative and pop which added a confusing vibe to the atmosphere. Water was never refilled. Overall super disappointing and will not return.

It was really a great meal & experience. The hardest part was picking what to eat. Great options. I ordered mojito delicious. Also had their Ropa Vieja beautiful presentation and truly flavorful. The black beans could have been more seasoned but honestly still tasty. The molten lava cake was yummy but not very warm in the middle to molten. My friend had the mofongo with lobster and said it was amazing. I still give it 5 stars because the staff added to a satisfying meal. I will be returning.

The outdoor patio was so nice and comfortable, and I even got a parking spot right in front of the restaurant—couldn’t ask for better. The frozen mango piña colada was delicious and strong, just the way I like it.
We shared the coconut shrimp, which were fried perfectly—crispy with a great crunch and paired with a tasty chipotle mayo. For my meal, I ordered the bento box. There are three options, and I chose the one with sliced skirt steak mofongo, shrimp mofongo, a dragon roll, and a tropical salad. The mofongo is a hearty dish, so I took some home, but it was packed with flavor. The skirt steak was especially amazing—tender, melt-in-your-mouth, and served with a rich, flavorful sauce. Even though I was full, I did manage a taste of the shrimp in a coconut sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to reheat it and enjoy the rest tonight.
Good food, relaxing atmosphere, and overall a nice experience!
Returned for a second visit during the winter month so he dined inside still comfortable our waiter. Gabrielle was very friendly a good server. Both entrees were very good. I just wasn’t crazy about the cappuccino. It’s a Latin fusion restaurant so probably shouldn’t have ordered that. Coconut flan was very good although a small portion. The cake for tres leche was a little dry, still tasty.

The portion sizes at this establishment are relatively modest, and it operates at a higher price point; nonetheless, the quality of the food is exceptional. I would recommend this venue to individuals willing to invest in a premium dining experience. The service was commendable, with our server, Raphel, ensuring our satisfaction and frequently checking on our needs. The atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing, complemented by attractive decor.

First time trying it and I loved the experience. The ropa vieja quesadilla is a MUST! It was so tasty, and they were not cheap with the meat. My friends had the chipotle chicken quesadilla, breakfast quesadilla, and the trifongo. They both loved their food as well. The sangrias packed a punch! I had two and was very tipsy, so either I’m becoming a light weight or they were strong. The place is really spacious and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcomed. They have an outdoor dining area as well and a free parking lot! So don’t waste time paying for the meters in front. Definitely will be coming again.

This was my first time dining at Donjito and I was truly blown away! Our server, Raphael, went above and beyond from start to finish — so attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, but the El Domi Roll was everything… a must-try!
To end our night, we had the coconut flan, and it was the perfect sweet finish — so creamy, flavorful, and delicious.
Overall, an amazing dinner experience. I can’t wait to come back!
