Dinner at Charlie Browns did not disappoint- even had the salad bar! It was nostalgic to find a Charlie Browns because we always went to the one in Metuchen before it closed. Many of the menu items taste the same. They even have the salad bar with all the selections. The salad bar is setup behind glass and an employee makes your plate for you. It felt very covid era and the server did not seem to understand when I was saying TINY amounts of each item, then I felt embarrassed to go up again to get items that could not fit on my plate because the portions the server gave were so out of wack. I tried to talk to the person but besides understanding what item I wanted, they did not understand me. It seemed very wasteful to be honest as I was trying to make a salad with just a sprinkle of toppings not a half a cup of shredded carrots or eggs on top of way too much lettuce. Our dinners were very good and cooked well. Service was great!

Charlie Brown’s is a dying gem of a franchise. This is one of a few remaining Charlie Brown restaurants and I feel it’s my duty to highlight this one before it, too, disappears.
The menu features lots of comfort foods. The king and duchess cuts are popular orders with my carnivorous family members, while I tend toward their simpler burgers. Either way, the food is dependably good and gets to the table faster than we’d expect.
The main crowning glory of all Charlie Brown’s, though, is the unlimited salad bar. It can be tacked onto any entree for a hefty charge, but we always get it because it’s a fantastic way to start the meal. Since COVID, it seems that all open salad bars have moved behind sneeze guards, and instead of getting everything yourself, you now have to direct a server to retrieve your salad choices for you. On occasion, this might mean your salad might not turn out precisely the way you would’ve wanted (like the most recent time, when a server drowned my salad in a deluge of Thousand Island dressing) , but the variety of this salad bar can’t be understated. Not only do they have all your usual spread of greens and toppings, but there are chopped proteins, egg/tuna/pasta salads, breads, and spreads.
This particular Charlie Brown’s has become one of my family’s go-to spots for celebrations. The large dining space regularly accommodates our sizable party without any wait, and the service is always spot-on. For those with little ones, know that the kids in our family also love coming here. The drawable placemats and free crayons keep them busy until their choice from the crowd-pleasing kids’ menu (which includes a free bowl of ice cream) arrives.

We had been hearing great things about this place for a long time and finally decided to visit, and it truly lived up to the hype. The steaks were cooked exactly the way we asked and packed with flavor. The salad bar stood out with how crisp and fresh everything tasted, honestly good enough to be a reason to come back on its own. The setting felt comfortable and welcoming, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience that we would happily repeat.

We had such a wonderful experience at Charlie Brown this Valentine’s Day! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, The hosts, I believe a manager was upfront as well, amazing people. Our server Kevin, truly made the night special. He was dressed in a charming pink outfit for the occasion.. very handsome.. his polite, joyful personality brought such great energy to the evening I was sharing with my wife, Amazing food and amazing service? Can’t get better than that! We’ll definitely be coming back for more incredible dishes and that same wonderful hospitality!

It was a business dinner. It started out ok, but then the server at the salad bar was very rude with her facial expressions, not welcoming at all. Also, she got upset with my colleagues because they went for a second plate of salads. Customer service is important in the restaurant business.

Our waitress Ann, was great. The atmosphere was nice. The salad bar is done by the staff. You do not do it yourself. I had beef tips and potatos. It was very good. Could have been a bit more tender but the flavor was good.

Took my wife here for our 1 year wedding anniversary. It was her first time here. Food and experience was amazing! The salad bar had changed from what I had remembered of it, but the woman who was serving us and other customers behind the salad bar did an outstanding job! I hope Charlie Brown’s pays her well (look at the photo of my salad, not one item fell off my plate as she made that,I was impressed!)

After hearing about this restaurant for years we finally made it over to try it! Definitely did not disappoint. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Everything on the salad bar was SO fresh- worth going back even if all we ordered was the salad bar! Atmosphere was pleasant and the service was good. An all around very wonderful experience!

Had a wonderful time here this past Friday with my wife. Our server was Matt and he was very friendly and attentive. Gave great suggestions on what to order and all the food was very very good. We started with stuffed crispy potato bites. My wife got a soup and I hit up the salad bar. So many choices there to get you started. Then we both got some delicious perfectly cooked steaks. We also ordered extra crispy fried onions strings and added some coconut shrimp. Everything was great and would love to come back with the family to have a big steak dinner.

I’ve been a fan of Charlie Brown’s since I was a kid, originally visiting the Millburn location before it closed. Now, my family and I have made the Scotch Plains location our go-to spot, and I’ve been here so many times that I finally decided to write a review. Today, I dined there with my family and ordered the King Ribeye with a side of French fries. The meal came with a salad, where you can pick your toppings from a designated area, a nice touch! We also started with calamari as an appetizer, and it was amazing. It wasn’t rubbery or chewy, just perfectly cooked. As for the main course, the steak was absolutely delicious. It was tender, juicy, and clearly of great quality. The French fries that came with it were also on point, crispy and flavorful. If you’re looking for a spot to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy a great meal with family, I highly recommend Charlie Brown’s. It’s a fantastic restaurant that never disappoints!
