I was charged$173.60 in the end, I noticed this once I got home. I usually end up going back there and ask why, to which they say they don’t know why it charged that. So again I’ll wait for the transaction to finalize so I can call to see what happened, but no one should have this issue, be sure to add everything up correctly before paying, they charge a card fee when paying with card.
This is only MY experience from this place.
The food is honest and comforting, the kind that doesn’t need trends or reinvention to be great. You can tell it’s made with care, not to impress outsiders, but to feed neighbors. Instead of chasing an upscale rebrand, they’ve chosen to keep prices low so families, workers, and longtime locals can still enjoy a good meal without feeling pushed out of their own neighborhood.
What really sets this place apart isn’t just the tacos or plates it’s the quiet commitment to staying accessible in the face of rapid gentrification. In a city where so many beloved spots disappear or become unrecognizable, this restaurant stands as a small act of resistance and a big act of love. Supporting it feels good, not just because the food is great, but because it’s helping keep the soul of East Austin alive.
I had the chipotle chicken and it was solid, it was big and filling. The chicken could have been a bit more flavorful but it was still very good, the food was reasonably priced. For 2 large margs, chipotle chicken and chicken quesadilla was 55$ (with tip).
Overall I’ll be coming back here for sure, the food is filling, reasonably priced and good and the margs are strong. Can’t ask for more.
Ordered tejano combo.
Meat was tasteless, shell was stale, even the beans and rice had no flavor. The waiter was good, but the food was gross.
As a Mexican, I’m not eating here again.
