We recently visited hoping for a traditional Irish pub experience, but found that many of the menu items lean more toward a Southern-style interpretation. For example, the fish and chips appeared to be made with a milder white fish (similar to catfish or flounder) rather than Atlantic cod or haddock, which was different from what we expected.

We experienced a fairly long wait—about 42 minutes—for an order of wings, even though the restaurant was only around 30% full. The wings seemed to be pre- or par-cooked and then finished to order, which didn’t quite match the “cooked fresh” expectation noted on signage inside. The garlic-buffalo sauce was not to our taste, and as someone who has lived near Buffalo for many years, I noticed a significant difference between classic Buffalo-style wings and what was served here. On a positive note, the blue cheese and ranch dressings were good, and the side salad was very enjoyable.

Unfortunately, the boneless wings and French fries were overcooked, and the breading on the boneless tenders was quite thick and crunchy. We also ordered Shepherd’s Pie, which appeared to be made with canned vegetables and instant potatoes, and it did not meet our expectations. A burger ordered at the table was served quite loose and sitting in au jus, which may appeal to some, but wasn’t our preference.

There were a few service delays as well. A side of mild “Buffalo” sauce requested by my wife did not arrive until after she had already finished two tenders, and several dishes were observed sitting in the kitchen window for extended periods. One wing order was even returned to the fryer to reheat. While our server handled our table, the interaction felt somewhat distant, and a bit more warmth or communication would have been appreciated.

We stopped here once many years ago and decided to give it another try after hearing improved feedback. While this visit didn’t quite meet our expectations, we may consider one more visit in the future to see if things improve. With several well-known wing spots nearby, consistency and reasonable wait times—especially for wings—are important

We went in to check out the place and have a beer, and we were pleasantly surprised: the food was excellent. I tried the pub dog, and it was out of this world — deep, delicious flavors, plus the portion was very generous. Cold beers and wings that you absolutely have to try if you go. The prices are very reasonable, and the service was fast and friendly. We’ll be back!!! 10/10

1st I see whomever owns Mckinleys doesn’t care to respond to reviews left. I do know it is under new ownership as of about a month ago according to our waitress. We have always had nothing but good reviews of McKinley ‘s food not this time. Very disappointed and will not be going back. We went recently and after being seated back in corner by door it took over 20 mins for waitress to come to table, we were actually thinking about leaving. We placed our order which when the waitress didn’t have anything to write our order down but asked anyways was a clue we should have left. After she started asking for our order she went off to get something to take order down. I told her I wanted my burger medium twice and she said well done I said “no medium nice pink in middle”. Everyone placed order took about 30 mins for 5 of us to get food and the place was not overly busy. Well my burger looked terrible 2 slices of cheese just thrown on top, took burger off grill then threw the cheese on, bacon was translucent and my burger was over cooked. My daughter didn’t like her Alfredo and she loves Alfredo. All our meals were warm at best but after all the time we sat there and the food was sub par but we ate it because it was getting late and we had to eat. Mediocre food, luke warm, paid alot and none of us will be going back.

I went a couple weeks ago and unsure if it was a new waitress or not. She was extremely rude, was short and pretty much threw our food on the table. We would ask for something and she wouldn’t say anything she would just leave and bring it. A simple yes would be fine . Didn’t ask how we wanted the burgers cooked nothing. Food wasn’t too good either. I have been here several times and usually the service is great but this time no.

Do not be put off by the outside appearance, because what’s inside is awesome!
We visited McKinley’s Restaurant and Pub on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere is top shelve. For casual dining, McKinley’s is our new top choice.

I dont normally order wings at most places, because EVERYONE sells them and most dont do them well. My husband ordered wings, and I ordered a reuben. Figured they would make a top notch one, but really I make a better one at home. However, the wings are delicious and the best thing we ate? The funnel fries!!!! The staff were all great. Friendly staff, and fun atmosphere. We also had loaded fries that were delicious. Topped generously and they have the good ranch! The beer cheese soup was just okay. A touch of seasoning would have made it much better. I recommend!

We’ve been coming here for the 5 years we’ve lived in Clayton. It’s our go-to Friday night spot, but it looks like we’re going to have to find a new spot. My daughter is a very picky eater, and she only likes a couple of things on the kids menu. She used to love the grilled cheese, until they changed it. She also likes the mozzarella sticks, but she’s gotten burnt out on them. A lot of times we bring food with us for her. We typically get repeat waitresses, and nobody has ever said anything. On this particular visit, we got a new waitress. To start off, she made a sarcastic comment about us bringing food. A few minutes later, another lady comes to the table to tell us that they don’t allow outside food. She said, “we have a kids menu.” We have never had this problem before, but it’s all of a sudden a problem. I guess all good things come to an end. It’s a shame, because we really liked coming and spending our money here and telling all of our friends to do the same.

Wings, bacon cheese fries and mushrooms are great. Service is okay, we asked for Splenda and the server asked was it pink, blue or yellow? If you’re a server you really should know that.
