Classic diner food by the beach. Service was good but I felt like the food was just okay, nothing in particular to write home about. I felt like everything was pretty bland and needed condiments to appreciate any taste or flavor. Prices are great though with cash price.

Family-friendly, Family-owned, and Family-run restaurant just steps from New Smyrna Beach right on Flagler Avenue.
The owner/Chef has been providing delicious food enjoyed by a lot of locals for around 47 years.
Sit inside or outside to people watch.
This place reminds me of a Florida version of a New York iconic restaurant featured in the documentary “I Like Killing Flies” not because we saw even one fly but because the men who have devoted their entire lives to feeding those around them have a special calling and apparently it’s also their god-given gift as well.
PS: every Friday is major comfort food…Thankgiving dinner ($12). Delicious.

Possibly the very best breakfast in New Smyrna Beach! A local icon, with long term staff who are friendly and fun. We have not found anything on the menu that isn’t fantastic. Experience and taste this locals favorite spot.

The Beacon was recommended to my husband and myself by our fishing charter captain. We explained that we couldn’t take our catches home with us due to us having to fly back the next day, but still wanted to eat it. This restaurant offers a “hook & cook” meal that comes with two sides. They closed at 3pm, and we arrived after 2pm unsure if they’d be willing to take us. They welcomed us with open arms and a kindness like no other. They took our king fish steaks and deboned them and filleted them. They were then brought back out to us for us to approve how they prepared the meat. The staff made us feel like we were cherished friends of theirs. The way they prepared the fish was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the sides were amazing too. We had freshly sliced tomatoes, crinkle cut fries, green beans, and the best coleslaw we’ve ever had. Thank you for making us feel so special. We will be back next trip!

Cute family owned spot. Simple breakfast and lunch options at very reasonable prices and perfectly cooked. Great friendly service, we only wish they were open on Wednesdays for our last day in NSB. Update: We ate here again and this time inside. It is a well-oiled machine with the nicest most professional servers. It is now our go-to spot for breakfast

The beacon was my goto place for great breakfast in New Smyrna Beach. Today we went for breakfast and I ordered my usual #3 eggs over medium, sausage, home fries and whole wheat toast. The eggs were fine cooked over medium. The home fries looked like mass produced from a restaurant supply, chunks not sliced potatoes prepared in house like usual. The sausage patties were thin and over cooked. When paying, I asked the cashierI asked if they changed there home fries, she said that is the way they have always cooked them and that I must be thinking of a different resturant. I went to there website and saw pictures of the potatoes the I have always had there. I don’t like being lied to. Over all it was very disappointing breakfast. They have lost me as a customer.

Stop for breakfast after watching the sunrise at the beach. This place opens at 7 AM. We got there around 7:30. They were not too busy. Our server was a decent middle-aged lady who seemed to be kind of rushed.

Since it was so early most of our table ordered Warner and one coffee she seemed a little stressed out about that in the water had a funny taste

Other than that, everybody pretty much ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon . The eggs were a little overdone and firm, not fluffy, scrambled eggs as she described them.

It’s definitely a casual café where you can grab a quick bite but don’t be accept. Did to stay long as they seemed very rushy. We paid roughly 70 bucks for five people to have breakfast which isn’t too bad these days.

They have indoor outdoor seating and a very small parking lot super close to the beach, but not on the beach and it seems to be just a few waitresses for the whole establishment .

I’d like to try their lunch just because they had a few things that caught my eye

The Beacon has been there for 50+ years. An old, reliable staple in New Smyrna Beach on beautiful Flagler Avenue. Their omelets are the best and packed full. Come hungry for one of the best breakfasts in the area. Highly recommend!

We came Sunday morning after sunrise and our waitress was nice. We sat outside and it was clean. We sat on the opposite side because someone had a dog (which I don’t mind dogs but not all are well behaved), but they sat a family next to us with a dog anyway. It was fine the dog was good. The thing that I was upset about was the waitress handing us our check right when we just started eating. She did tell us no rush, but I felt rushed. I thought it was something they do, but I heard the waitress ask someone else if they were ready for their check, so it definitely isn’t something they do. The home fries were not what I expected, but it didn’t taste bad. The atmosphere was okay. The main thing that bothered me the most was having my check given to me when I just started eating.

We’ve been coming to The Beacon for years, it’s a no frills typical diner, and we’ve always enjoyed the breakfast. Unfortunately we were disappointed this week. Ordered the Greek yogurt bowl, no melon. It came out with a few strawberries, pineapple and melon . The server with the long blond hair who had been surely the entire time we were there was unapologetic saying, ‘that’s all we have.’
We won’t be back.
