This is a great place for large or small parties. The food and service are awesome. Parking may be a bit troublesome, but there are no major issues.
We’ve been there many times and we’ll keep going back.
Thank you.

This place was great, Coming from Houston, we decided to stop for lunch. The fried chicken was so good, and the sides were amazing. Everything we ate was hot and fresh. I love the honey on the table. They actually sell it, and I purchase 3. I love that they keep checking on you to see if you need more food. The staff was very friendly. The bathrooms are very clean, and after you eat, you can walk the nature trail. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Thank you, Pickett House, for providing us with delicious food, great service, and beautiful memories.

An established restaurant that is part of a larger museum complex. Food is served family style. You order your entrees, drinks and type of bread at the counter and pay, then you sit and your food is brought to the table with bowls full of sides–we had the fried chicken and the sides were chkn &dumplings, greens, black-eyed peas, and yams. The food is danged good and the service is friendly and responsive with frequent checking to see if more food needs to be brought to the table. Loved it. There is also a pretty good gift shop next door staffed with some of the friendliest people around.

Delicious “homestyle” cooking in a country atmosphere. All you can eat, and it’s so good you can eat a lot! After eating you can tour the old country town they have with a museum of house drawn buggy, a blacksmith shop, old post office, school house and church. So many things to see. A great family outing.

I have been coming to the Pickett House since I was a little girl. My grandmother went to school in the building. I live in Houston but when I have had the toughest times and the deepest sorrows, I return to the Pickett House for the nostalgic comfort that I can rely on not to change. Heidi is always there to great me. Troy is always there to make me laugh. The chicken is amazing. The dumplings are my absolute favorite and the pinto beans I had the last time were the best I had ever had. The addition of the ice cream to the peach cobbler was a fantastic choice. This is the place to be when the world feels sad and you want the most comforting meal you could ever have.

I can definitely see why reviews are mixed of this place. We had a great experience the first time we came but this most recent visit, not so much.
We were one of the first 10 couples in the place. I was pleased to see how fast our first round of food was brought out.
Most of the sides were descent but were lukewarm not hot which was surprising since we were the first ones there.
The mashed potatoes had a good garlic flavor. The greens and lima beans were good too and the coleslaw but the portions were so tiny we barely got a full serving each.
The chicken though was pitiful and small. The servings were small too. I had skipped breakfast so I was pretty hungry and disappointed how fast we devoured our chicken. We asked for another round but the server informed us it would be a 10 minute wait and that we could only get a few pieces at a time because they were behind on frying chicken.
I was so hungry and not expecting rationing and gaps of time between servings. I was so excited when they brought the next plate of chicken out but the breast was disgusting and rubbery. I spit it out. So since I couldn’t eat that, we had to order more again with yet another long wait.
I was forced to eat the biscuits I didn’t really want because I was hungry and she had not replenished our sides once even though we asked her too. She kept skipping us and going to the tables with big parties.
When she stopped by to ask if she could get us anything else I said yes, the sides we asked her to bring 20 minutes earlier. When she brought them back and set them down I said thank you and she just walked off.
Im convinced they stall people to get them to give up on asking for refills. The restaurant was less than half full.
The only thing that made this ending good was the delicious peach cobbler although the serving size is drastically smaller than before.
So the prices are the same but portions and refills are smaller. It stinks to have to pay in advance because you tip in advance too and if the service is less than sub par, they still get paid as if their service was great.

If you are near Woodville you need to stop here and eat! Their fried chicken was scrumptious!! My husband loved their chicken and dumplings. We even bought some to bring home. So very good.

We loved this place. The decor is vintage and just a home warming atmosphere. The food was family style, all of of it was amazing. Chicken moist and juicy. Chicken and dumplings are to die for. Biscuits super soft and melts in your mouth! Service is great, staff very friendly. It is all you can eat and very worth the visit. We are 5 hours away but glad we found this place!

Just the best fried chicken ever! We live about an hour and a half from this place, yet we have lunch here about once a month. It’s worth the drive! The food and service is consistently excellent. The food (fried chicken! That’s it!) is served boarding house style. You go to the cashier, order, pay and get your own drinks and silverware. Tables are long with bench seats. Almost immediately after sitting, a cart will arrive with your chicken and sides. Beans, chicken & dumplings, mashed potatoes & gravy, and biscuits. Plus you can have coleslaw, pickled beets, and jalapeños at no additional cost. It’s all you can eat, and includes peach cobbler for dessert! When you’re finished you take all your plates up to the window where the kitchen will retrieve them. The interior is super cute, with a fabulous collection of vintage circus posters. The place is on the grounds of a recreated turn of the century lumber town, with a museum and hiking trails.

My friend and I drive forever away to have fried chicken. It’s all you can eat family style place. We ate the first round of perfectly salty chicken, turnips, potatoes, black eye peas, dumplings, with biscuits and cornbread. That would have satisfied normal men but we are not sort of those people. We finished round two, and then a third round….. before having a cute cup of peach cobbler.
Think we ended up eating 2 whole chickens and a dozen or more biscuits with strap syrup.
