Social Profile:

The Trainwreck in Rock Hill, MO. continues to be the definitive neighborhood tavern & is considered to be the oldest continually operated tavern in St. Louis County, dating back to 1890. Great care was taken to restore & preserve the structure. The original back bar is still in use today. In 1992, a caboose was added to the Beer Garden. In 1995, an innovative bar was built in and around the caboose, making Rock Hill’s beer garden one of the most unique patios in St. Louis. After surviving a flood in 2009, a dining room was added, adding seats for year round dining.

Burgers & bar food in a wood-trimmed tavern dating to 1890, with original elements still in place.

Kim warmly welcomed us, evident in her genuine happiness that we chose to have lunch at the TrainWreck Saloon. Izzy, our server was very attentive and personable. Kim shared that her and her husband smoke the pulled pork, which was incredibly delicious on our nachos. Dominick deserves a big thank you for the meticulous preparation and equally impressive presentation of our pulled pork nachos. The pulled pork nachos, listed as an appetizer on the menu, are actually enough for a two-person meal!

I ordered the bison burger with American cheese and seasoned French fries. Bison meat is lean so it needs cheese to help elevate the flavors. The burger was cooked perfectly. The bison meat needed more seasoning besides the slice of American cheese. The seasoned french fries are delicious. What would make the fries even better is if they are served hot. So often restaurants don’t execute this part of the meal. Turn up the warmer on the fries. I got excellent service from Cindy. She was busy and this can fluster people but Cindy was very personable and friendly. The vibe of the restaurant is chill and friendly.

When I first got there it took a while for the lady to come over and greet me. They weren’t busy but they were getting take out orders. I had the triple cheeseburger and some fried pickles. The fried pickles were excellent!!!! I don’t know what the dip was but it was delicious!! The fries that came with the burger were ok but I’m not big on fries anyway. The burger however was still mooing! It was dark on the outside and raw inside. I ate it and with the onion and pickle and a little ketchup it wasn’t bad. Next time I’m delivering next door I’ll stop in!!!

I went to this place during the beginning of October with my husband and his father after we got married at the courthouse. It was my first time meeting my FIL, I was nervous but it all went well and he took us out for lunch. It was a lovely place, the food was delicious, the waitress was sweet and I loved the stained glass details all over the place. I definitely want to visit again.

Will not come back at all absolutely the worst service ive had of any place im not sure how it has as man good reviews but the staff is uneducated on there own menu and the manager older lady is extremely unhelpful as well. recommend anywhere else besides this now ive paid for drinks and only my appetizer after almost an hour cause we pay we don’t want free and now have to go find food elsewhere. terrible experience for our first time and for sure the last time here

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Trainwreck Saloon and wanted to share my thoughts on their food, specifically the Mexican raviolis and the bacon cheddar BBQ bison burger with seasoned fries.

Let’s start with the Mexican raviolis as the appetizer. They were a unique twist on traditional ravioli, filled with nacho cheese that melted into a delightful gooey texture. The accompanying sauce, which seemed to be a sour cream base mixed with salsa, provided a tangy and spicy kick. It was certainly an interesting choice for a stoner snack and I found it to be quite enjoyable.

Moving on to the main course, I opted for the bacon cheddar BBQ bison burger with seasoned fries. While the seasoned fries were exceptional and unlike any I’ve had before, the burger itself left much to be desired. Unfortunately, the burger was smothered in what appeared to be canned cheddar with a paste like appearance/texture which they referred to as “soft cheddar.” The cheddar paste taste overwhelmed the overall flavor and left me feeling a bit queasy. The excessive amount of cheddar paste also made the burger feel heavy and unappetizing.

Overall, my experience at Trainwreck Saloon was a mixed bag. While the Mexican raviolis were a tasty and unique starter, the bacon cheddar BBQ bison burger fell short due to the overpowering cheddar paste. However, I can confidently say that their seasoned fries were outstanding and worth trying…

Continuing my quest to find the best burger in St. Louis, I made my way to the Trainwreck Saloon. I was told about this place by a friend who spent many, many hours at this establishment and about her many stories about beer, friends, and burgers. So tonight I thought, Let me go try this place. Wandering in I was immediately in a well-lit bar area. A friendly waitress asked where I would like to sit. Choosing a seat that reminded me of a church pew, I settled in to have dinner and watch some sort of sports ball on the TV. After ordering two different appetizers, fried pickles and South West egg rolls, I can say without hesitation that both were delicious. Washed down with an Irish red beer, I was all set for the evening until my tavern burger arrived. A wonderful bison burger with fried pickles, French onion, and cheddar cheese was definitely a good burger. I sat there admiring it for longer than was necessary and then took a wonderful first bite. The bison patty was the perfect medium rare, the cheese melted over everything, and the pickles and onions added a little bit of sweetness. I ended up finishing way too fast, which is always a problem. And soon I was out the door, ready to find the next burger in St. Louis.
