All that aside, the food here is pretty good and they have Vietnamese food as well as Chinese food and even sushi, so you can get all kinds of Asian food all in one place. What I like is they have stuff you don’t see at a lot of Chinese places, like this Salty Fish and chicken fried rice. I know salty fish in fried rice sounds kinda weird, but it actually tastes pretty good. It’s kinda priced a little high I think for fried rice, I guess that fish costs a lot, it was $16, but they do have huge portions here, so that’s a good thing.
The other thing I ordered is the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. They do this dish really well here and use real actual fresh noodles, not the dried noodles like some places do. It’s like using fresh pasta vs the dries spaghetti and boiling it. You can taste the difference. They put lots of sauce, it’s called “wet” style, other wise it’s just the stir fried noodles “dry” style. Again huge portion for $14!
I try not to come here after dark cause of the location, but get here at opening and you can get a parking spot right in front. The service is fast and efficient and the kitchen is fast.
I ordered the Singapore Noodles which are curry flavored thin rice noodles with chicken and shrimp and eggs and onions. I liked that they didn’t just fill up the dish with noodles, but put lots of good stuff in it, like eggs and pork and shrimp. OMG, the portion was huge for $14, and served super hot!
I also got the Honey Walnut Prawns for $16. That too was a huge portion, way more than other restaurants serve. I think I got like 15 pieces of tasty shrimp. The sauce they use is not so gloppy like other places either. The shrimp, lightly coated are cooked perfect, not overcooked at all, all rubbery and stuff. No, nice and tender with a little crunch on the outside. I recommend getting this dish. There was so much, I took half of each dish home on to go boxes!
I’d recommend this Pho Hong Kong Diner. The have a bunch of Vietnamese food as well as sushi even! Pho isn’t my fave kinda food, but the Chinese food here certainly is.
Pho is decent. Noodle portion is not enough or definitely on the small side. But meat ratio is ok.
It was utterly dried up and brittle.
There was virtually no moisture in the meat or bones.
The pork buns fared better, although they were light on the pork filling itself.
The filling was seasoned well for my liking. The buns held onto some of its moisture content so as to not be dry.
I had positive expectations about this place prior to my visit. It was recommended to me by some of the local residents of Reno.
The service given by the staff was average. They came to my table only once, and that was about 30 minutes into my meal.
