I LOVE IT HERE. Awesome Guinness and hand-made food. The burgers are charred and wonderful, the cheese curds are amazing and hand-breaded, and don’t taste like any other cheese curds I’ve ever had. The sweet potato fries have this marshmallow creme that they come with and it goes fantastically with the cinnamon they get seasoned with. My only complaint is that it is pretty pricey, but it was absolutely worth it and a great place to check out!

So much fun & delicious food. It’s a must to visit when in South Bend. If going to ND game, go early for seat. Love the Da Blarney sandwich. French Onion soup really good. I think the bartender was Joel and although he was very busy he provided good service.

Let me start by saying I wanted to love this place. The food was just not good. I ordered the fish and chips which was a mistake. There was so much batter, it was soggy and the fish was slimy and falling out of the batter. The waitress was so good with apologizing, replacing the order, being timely and friendly. I ordered the wings to replace that cod. They were not good either. My daughter had the slider burgers and she did not like them. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen. Hopefully it gets better.

1st timers and we will be back! Our waitress Hayley was so sweet and informative! She told us we wouldn’t be disappointed with the French onion soup and she wasn’t kidding! Best French onion soup we have ever had! We ended up going back the next day for a beer and there was live music! We really enjoyed this bar!

As a current Notre Dame parent, I am extremely disappointed to be writing this review. For the past four and a half years, our family has been loyal patrons of O’Rourke’s Public House. Our son is a student-athlete at Notre Dame, and O’Rourke’s has always been our go-to spot on campus — a place where we’ve met other parents, alumni, and students. It has genuinely felt like a family gathering place and a home away from home during our visits.

Unfortunately, our most recent experience changed that entirely.

My husband drove 12 hours to see our son. They decided to go to O’Rourke’s midday and sat at the bar. There were other families present, including young children. My son ordered a water, and my husband ordered a beer. While my husband was not asked for ID, my 24-year-old son was. We fully understand Indiana liquor laws and have no issue with proper ID checks. However, what was upsetting was that the bartender refused to even serve him a water without ID. He had to leave, drive 30 minutes to retrieve his identification, and return just to be served a non-alcoholic drink.

After presenting his ID, they ordered two sandwich wraps. They waited at the bar for an hour and a half with no food. When they politely asked to speak with a manager to understand the delay, they were told by the manager, Angela, that the kitchen was backed up. Yet shortly after, she was seen going into the kitchen and vaping. Meanwhile, the bartender, Lizzy (blonde hair with a choker necklace), was dismissive, rude, and openly disrespectful toward both my husband and my son.

After two hours of waiting, with no food and feeling completely unwelcome, they left.

As parents who have proudly supported Notre Dame and its community, it is heartbreaking to feel this way about a place that once represented warmth and hospitality for our family. O’Rourke’s has always been associated with the spirit of Notre Dame — community, respect, and pride. What we experienced was the opposite.

We will no longer consider this a place to gather when visiting campus, and I will be sharing this experience with fellow alumni and parents. No family should feel disrespected while simply trying to enjoy time with their student.

I truly hope management reflects on this and works to restore the welcoming environment that once made O’Rourke’s special.

Food & beverages were good, but then a crowd of people showed up, and it got way too loud, so we left.
Bartender did best he could being understaffed. Surprised kitchen staff did help.

An authentic Irish pub at walking distance from the University of Notre Dame. I ordered the Mac&Cheese and the Scotch eggs. It was my first time trying the eggs, it comes with two hard-boiled eggs wrapped in a delicious sausage meat with breadcrumbs, eggs cut in halves, mustard dip. To my surprise, eggs were very fulfilling!! Mac&Cheese is always delicious but I did appreciate how creamy they were, and the strong sharp flavor of cheddar cheese on top.
The atmosphere of the place is really fun and largely inspired by Irish culture and the passion for sports from the Notre Dame community.
Service was great, everyone was very friendly. Bathrooms were clean, with free tampons—appreciated!—. I liked that they sell t-shirts with their logo and the Touch Down Jesus, ideal if you’re a football fan at Notre Dame.
I would absolutely come back!

First time visiting South Bend with my sisters and friends. We were bar-hopping and stopped here for a couple drinks. The bartenders were great—friendly, quick, and the atmosphere was awesome because it was game day.

The only downside was an interaction outside. I sat in an empty chair while waiting for one of my sisters, and a waitress came out and very rudely said, “They’re gonna make you get up and move.” No problem getting up, but the attitude wasn’t necessary.

We’re from out of town and didn’t know the open container laws, so my sister asked about it. The same waitress responded with another rude comment: “Don’t you see the bar trolley right there? Yeah, we don’t have open container laws.”

It definitely put a damper on what was otherwise a good stop. The bartenders were great, but the service outside could definitely use some work.

Service was poor, the waitress wasn’t very happy to be working there. Burgers were good, fish n chips greasy and fatty, couldn’t eat the fish. Beers were good. Every chair and stool in the place was very wobbly and felt like it was gonna collapse. Apple pie was good, tasty. Overall just average and pricey.
