A toda mi familia latina, ¡esto no es para nosotros!
¡Esto está más americanizado que mexicano!

We were excited to try this place, but unfortunately it didn’t meet our expectations.

The Burrito Grande was more like a burrito chico. Portion-wise, it was comparable to a Taco Bell 5-Layer rather than what you would expect from something labeled “Grande.” For the price, we were hoping for something more substantial.

Flavor-wise, it didn’t have the authentic Mexican taste we were looking for. The carne asada lacked seasoning and depth — it tasted more like plain grilled meat rather than well-marinated asada. The rice seemed more like white rice with orange coloring added, without the traditional flavor you’d expect from Mexican rice.

On a positive note, the salsa was excellent. It had great flavor and definitely helped elevate the burrito, making it more enjoyable.

Lastly, the music was so loud that we couldn’t have a conversation at our table, and even the waiter had difficulty hearing our order. A more moderate volume would really improve the dining experience.

Overall, we wanted to love it, but it just didn’t deliver the authenticity or experience we were hoping for.

Great service and spacious atmosphere. The kids menu was a plus. Prices are reasonable for Hawaii. I really enjoyed the quesadilla.

Ok let me start this by saying my family and I love mexican food, BUT this place is over priced for what you get. The salsa is really good and the Horchata is good as well. But when it came to the food, it had almost zero flavor and the world’s smallest Birra tacos. Do yourself and your pockets a favor and go elsewhere.

Visiting friends in the area & came here for dinner. We were sat in the doorway, afternoon sun blazing a hole in our eyes. When we asked if we could move to a table out of the sun & in the AC (hot by the door), we were counterintuitively offered a table outside.
Fast forward to our dinner, where the 2 quesadillas were swimming in an ocean of grease. Luckily, we had plenty of time to sop up the mess with extra napkins while we waited on the other two entrees for the table. We had to ask for plates & silverware to attempt to cut the greasy mess.
The fajitas finally came out – hot and crispy. Ok, more like burned to a crisp. Chicken so dry it gave the Mojave desert a run for its money. The beef fajitas could have been jerky.
The only plus we had here were the drinks: house margarita & mango margarita were delicious. Now, if you’ll excuse me, the four of us are now headed back to the house to fight over the three bathrooms.

This was my 1st time here they exceeded my expectations!!! I’ve recently moved here from Texas, so I’ve had my fair share of Mexican / Hispanic /Latino food. This place was better than a couple of other spots that had higher ☆ratings.
We left stuffed & with a to go plate for $65. I will be back to eat here ASAP! Probably tonight for dinner.

There were two workers, young men, Shay and Princeton, I think. They were the most helpful. They were courteous and polite. Stopping at table, clearing it off, asking if we needed things, etc HAD A SMILE!!!

The waitress acted like we were a bother. I had to ask 3x for ice, 2x for salt. We were told am the tacos were on sale except the taco grande and that was false, manager did discount it after. The Asada and grilled chicken didn’t have much taste and they didn’t get that order right.

The manager gave away our elote (appetizer) to another table and then dropped off the other appetizers and all food arrived before that came (after we asked about it) and it was just can corn and the mexican cheese/queso fresco, no seasoning.

My friend enjoyed the red sauce, really the only positive thing except those 2 young men who looked like High schoolers or young college. Only reason I gave it a 2*

The manager’s friends/regular customer – someone who they knew had their dog at /on the tables and chairs, never was on ground (we did eat outside but still) and the tables were tacky and we had to put napkins on the table everywhere our arms touched the table.

They had thick chips, which I prefer thin, this was not a game changer but letting people know.

It’s tough to find truly good Mexican food in Hawaii, but Taqueria El Ranchero in Kapolei was a total win! We started with chips and salsa along with the chorizo queso – both were full of flavor and a great way to kick things off. For our main dishes, we had tamales, tacos, and elote. Everything was delicious! The tamales were just a little overcooked, but still really tasty and clearly homemade.

What really stood out, besides the food, was the service. Even though the restaurant was busy, our young waiter (I didn’t catch his name) was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Our food came out quickly, and the whole experience felt smooth and well-managed.

On top of all that, the prices were surprisingly affordable – such a great value. We’ll definitely be going back. This place is a must-visit if you’re craving authentic Mexican food on Oahu!

Food was good, not the best Mexican food I’ve had. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and my wife ordered the beef fajitas, I also ordered the al pastor street taco, kinda small for $4.50. Service was good, the music was playing way too loud for me for dinner time. I don’t think we will come back again, I will keep looking for a good Mexican restaurant.

Menudo was good. Chicken Enchiladas came to our table cold very disappointing. Chicken was also dry and lack of flavor. The beans and rice were very good. We had 2 different types of salsa red was very watered down the green was very good. The chorizo queso dip was excellent our waitress highly recommended it. We went during football playing on the screens . A little loud but that was ok. Floor needed to be cleaned and swept. Chips napkins and various trash on the floor. Still highly recommend this place. We will be going back. We heard another table order and they said they ran out of carne asada. It was only 12:30.
