Excellent restaurant for a night out! I didn’t have much experience eating Indian food prior, but now it has become a favourite. Sona offers a wide selection of flavourful dishes and the staff are equipped to guide you based on your preferred spice level. We ordered beef vindaloo, lamb garlic curry, paneer 65, some mango lassis and roti. I am looking forward to going back soon. The atmosphere was very clean and comfortable, though the lights are a bit bright for dinner time. Highly recommend!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Ottawa. Delicious food, such nice staff and it’s so pretty inside. You have to try the Paneer Pakora sooo good, butter chicken amazing and lamb madras was so yummy. It was so delicious I forgot to take photos until after we ate. 🙂 Harmon our server was soooo nice and accommodating always checking up on us and making sure food wasn’t too spicy. Our third visit and we’ll definitely be back!!!

Sona the Indian Kitchen is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve tried in Ottawa, and I completely understand why so many people recommend it. From the moment you walk in, the decor stands out, the place smells incredible, and you can literally smell the Indian spices from the front door, which instantly makes you hungry. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, so even when it’s busy, finding a table usually isn’t an issue.
The food is absolutely delicious, perfectly spiced, flavorful, and clearly made with care. No questions asked, the quality is top tier. Prices are a bit on the higher side compared to other Indian spots, so it’s not somewhere I’d go every time I’m craving Indian food, but it’s definitely worth it once in a while.
Service is good overall, though it could be even better with a bit more warmth and smiling from the staff. Orders do take some time to come out, which can be a little frustrating, and even getting water took longer than expected. If possible, I’d recommend asking for water as soon as you arrive. Despite that, the experience and food quality make it a place I’d still highly recommend.

Had such a warm and lovely experience. The food tasted incredibly fresh — we ordered the veg dry and absolutely loved it, especially with the complimentary papadom and chutney (that little touch felt like icing on the cake). The non-veg platter was amazing too, and the charcoal flavor on the shrimp really stood out.
The ambiance is cozy and aesthetic, the service is genuinely welcoming, and everything arrived quickly.
The best part? No loud music — just a calm, peaceful space to truly enjoy the meal. Definitely a spot I’d vouch for!

Very nice experience here. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Food was really good! Decor acceptable. Music was at a very good volume and was some catchy Indian dance music. Note: when it snows the parking lot is a little tricky.

I had a wonderful time at Sona The Indian Kitchen! The ambiance is absolutely great warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal. As for the food, the Paneer Kalimirch is a must try. It was rich, creamy, and had just the right amount of peppery kick. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for delicious Indian cuisine and a lovely atmosphere.

Phenomenal food and selection, everything was perfect and so tasty. be sure to make reservations as I saw them turning people away at the door that didn’t have one.
Great service, our server was so kind and warm. I gave it a 4 for atmosphere as I felt it was a bit too bright to my liking (it was also 5pm so also expected). I think dimmer lighting and maybe candles could make it more cozy but that’s just my personal opinion.
We will 100% be back.

Absolutely outstanding dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and professional. The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented—every dish was rich in spices and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was comfortable and inviting, making it perfect for both family dinners and special occasions. This is hands down one of the best full-service Indian restaurants around. Their Hariyali Paneer Tikka, spicy pineapple mocktail is highly recommended!

The best Indian food I’ve had in Ottawa hands down. The plates are so colorful and extremely tasty. It is also very nicely decorated, with attentive staff. Someone in our group had a medical emergency during the dinner and the staff, the owner and even the other clients were so so helpful with everything.
