We had a wonderful dining experience overall. The atmosphere was elegant and very comfortable, perfect for a date or a special occasion.

The portion sizes were actually quite generous for a fine dining menu — by the time the main course arrived we were already very full, which was a pity because we didn’t have room for dessert. The duck was absolutely outstanding, beautifully cooked and full of flavour. I was too full to finish it and had to take the rest away, but it was so good that I didn’t want to waste a single bite.

The foie gras was a real highlight — incredibly smooth, rich and very well-portioned.

The beef tartare was slightly less impressive to me. The prawn cracker didn’t feel like the best match, and there was a bit too much spring onion, which somewhat covered the natural flavour and texture of the beef. I personally prefer a more classic and slightly more raw style, where the quality of the meat can really shine.

Service was warm and professional. I would recommend arriving a bit earlier, as it did get noticeably busier later on and the staff became slightly stretched.

Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I would happily return for the foie gras, the duck and the beautiful setting.

We went to this restaurant a few days ago for my husband’s birthday and it’s truly a beautiful place.
The staff are attentive, polite, and very friendly. The sommelier is extremely knowledgeable and lovely, and she helped us choose the perfect wines for each course.
The food was absolutely amazing! We loved the oyster selection, the crab crumpet and the scallops! honestly so good I could eat a thousand of them and the Wagyu, which was outstanding.
Every dish we tried was excellent.
We also loved the ice cream, where you can add a variety of delicious toppings.

Exceptional! The interiors and vibe is stunning. Food was superb. We had the steak tartare, smoked king ora salmon, duck, 800g rib eye, mash with marrow and asparagus goat cheese. Spent about $500 for the two of us, included a few drinks. Couldn’t fault a single dish. Service was friendly and not too pretentious. It’s a very fancy place but also felt quite relaxed! Highly recommend!

I can’t think of anything I can fault in my years of fine dining. From the food to the atmosphere and the care… It’s genuinely unbelievable.

The service in particular was something that I have not experienced in so long. Every staff member was sharp, knew what they were talking about and evidently took a lot of care in what they do.

They did make one mistake in that they brought out one of the wrong side and dispite me saying it was okay, the manager insisted that they get the right one and also didn’t charge for either. Stellar care for their diners and just stunning, world class service.

We went to celebrate Lunar NY and you can see the dessert having that on it. One of those little touches that will turn a good restaurant to something that you will never forget.

I am usually very critical and honestly, I can’t find a single thing that I can judge here. You may consider it pricey but when you consider everything that you get, I think it was more than reasonable.

Food wise, my highlights were the steak, the dessert, and dear god the bread with the burnt honey butter was something to die for. Oysters were good and the bone marrow pomme puree made me question any mash potatoes that I have ever made. Stunning.

If you want something fancy or are wanting to treat your special someone, let’s put it this way, the only place that has impressed me more in Melbourne is Attica and as far as high praise goes, I don’t think I can give any higher than that.

Bravo RR. I will absolutely be back and your work was kind, excellent and efficient.

Myself and my husband visited for the first time for a pre-valentines day date night. From the moment you walk in the ambience and romantic mood is set by grand architecture, soft lighting and velvety seating. The staff were well versed in the menu offerings and were so polite in every interaction, picking up on our needs without prompt. Every detail, from glassware to crockery was intentional in creating an experience from beverage to food. The selection of wines and alcoholic beverages was exquisite, something for every pallet. There’s too few words worthy to begin explaining how incredible the food is and the experience is of a parallel universe. Starting with the SCHRENKIT DAURICUS Caviar that melted on first touch of the tongue, complimented with the slightly sweet waffle is (if you have the acquired taste) impeccable. We cannot recommend the entire experience at Reine & La Rue enough just for the exquisite food in itself. We will be dining again!

Fine dining restaurant with instagrammable interior. Entrance is a small door in the old ANZ Gothic Bank building next to the ANZ museum on Collins St. Featuring neo-Gothic architecture, stained glass windows and dimly lit lights.

The food:

Beef tartare – very well minced and flavourful, well seasoned. 4.5/5

Scallops – tastes like butter chicken sauce with scallop instead. Very interesting and new take. 4/5

Smoked ora salmon – tasted good but didn’t feel like it was special. Creamy. Tender and well seasoned, the biscuit had lots of roasted spices and was good at mopping up the diced salmon. 3.5/5

Duck- very juicy and tender, perfectly cooked pink in the breast. Honey glaze makes the skin slightly crispy. If you eat the breast with the jus (the chefs recommendation is to eat it alone) it tastes even better, perfect combination of umami, slightly salty and sweet. The little black berry and cabbage garnish is also great to eat a piece of duck with, a splash of sweetness on a background of savoury and umami. 5/5

The pomme puree – mash with bone marrow – extremely smooth mash with extra decadence from the marrow, perfect complement for any protein. 5/5

John Dory – I would’ve liked it slightly softer and flakier. The smoked mussels are a great garnish and the creamy sauce complements the fish well. Would’ve also liked the piece to be slightly larger, since it is fish, it’s not as dense as other meats. 4/5

The service:

Very friendly and attentive water refills, explained the menu well.

Bathrooms also relatively clean as expected for a fine dining restaurant.

Amazing restaurant! The architecture is stunning! Food is pretty good for the price, really enjoyed the flounder with table service and the duck had perfectly crisp skin and fall off the bone confit legs. The mash with bone marrow is and it was nice to get a birthday message on our dessert.

This is a place for all occasions, especially when you want to celebrate with your love ones. The atmosphere is classy and cozy, full of buzz but not noisy.

The food is amazing, we initially thought of ordering from ala carte menu but were attracted to their chef’s and signature sets. The signature set exceeded our expectations, everything from starter, entree, main and dessert were awesome.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, they gave us time to through the menu and explained it well. The sommelier is knowledgeable, passionate and recommended some good wine that suit us.

Overall a great experience, lovely and memorable dinner.

The food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is just as impressive — the architecture alone makes the experience feel special and memorable.

The Loddon Estate duck is an absolute must-order. I honestly have no idea how they cooked it, but it was superb — perfectly balanced, rich, and unforgettable.

Service was warm and genuinely lovely, with smiles all around, which really elevated our night out. An all-round exceptional dining experience that we’ll be thinking about for a long time.

Oh! Wine list is crazy good! Can’t skip tho!
