So EVERY other location of Mr. Ed’s I’ve eaten at has been really great and I’ve always enjoyed it. I avoided coming to this location for quite awhile as I had always liked Bozo’s which was at this location before so it seemed too weird to visit here for a long time. So finally in 2022 I decided to make a visit here. It did take a bit of adjustment as it was so different yet still had some of the bones of Bozo’s still present. I had high expectations from my prior visits to other Mr. Ed’s locations but sadly they really disappointed me here.
My first visit I ordered seafood gumbo, crawfish bread and trout almondine. The seafood gumbo barely had any seafood in it, the crawfish bread was VERY cheesy but barely any crawfish were to be found, the trout almondine was EXTREMELY dry and tough as leather. My next visit several months later I tried the Redfish Amanda which had a VERY cold topping of crawfish etouffee on top of it which really ruined the experience. I also found the portion sizes here to be very small for the price they charged compared to other seafood joints in the area and from my experience at other Mr. Ed’s locations. The service was also sadly below mediocre and my servers seemed to really not care when I told them of my issues with my food. At his point I wasn’t willing to even go for a third strike attempt as my experiences here were among the all time worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. So from my two visits I have to give this restaurant ONE star!
Now some redemption has happened as the current GM of this restaurant all these years later in 2025 noticed my poor review experiences and invited me to make a return visit to try them again! So I very much value restaurants that want to make things right again and I’m also a big fan of Mr. Ed’s other locations I’ve visited over the years and still have them on my rotation. I was really sad this Mr. Ed’s really failed me after all the others had been so good. So far I haven’t had time to take up the offer of a return visit but the professionalism of the GM here makes this review go up from a 1 star to a 3 star at least until I can finally sample the food here again. I have high expectations that they will at least meet or exceed my experiences at other Mr. Ed’s locations.

We go to NOLA every Christmas to visit family (we’re from here originally, but live in Houston) and turtle soup is a NOLA staple I canNOT get in Houston. I look forward to this dish every year and honestly, I enjoy Ed’s more than I do Brennan’s. One year, I dropped my leftovers on the floor on the way out, and Ed’s in Metairie saw me literally start crying and gave me an entire new bowl to-go. This year, we arrived 45min before closing. Another large party took the last of the turtle soup. Upon hearing this and seeing me – again – about to cry, they called around and located some at the Live Oak location. Live Oak agreed to save me a bowl for pickup the next morning on my way back to Houston. Except they saved me not one, but TWO bowls of soup. Not only is the food AMAZING, but these people will treat you like family. Thank you Mr. Ed’s for always reminding this H-Town girl what it feels like to come home to her cajun roots. I’ll be a customer of yours FOR LIFE! ❤️

I had been hearing good things about this place, so me and my co worker finally decided to give it a try. Our waiter Blake was amazing. He gave us great recommendations on the menu. Our lemom drops were nice and strong. I tried all four kind of chargrilled oysters( I personally would stick with the original, my coworker liked the Rockefeller ones). The crab dip and bbq shrimp were amazing. I got the white beans and rice with 2 fried pork chops and i was soo good. The white beans had sausage and shrimp. My co worker loved the red fish and fettucine, and her seafood gumbo.
I def recommend and I can not wait to come back with my boyfriend.

My wife and I ate at Ed’s for the first time today, and had an outstanding experience. Mark and the entire staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional. The atmosphere is awesome, and the place was super clean, and well maintained. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Hands down the best seafood restaurant around in my opinion. We will definitely be regular customers going forward. And I highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert, you won’t be disappointed!

Came here for my birthday dinner last night & everything was so good, I’m glad I decided to change restaurants. The drinks were on point & did what they needed to do & the staff had A1 service. The waiter was very attentive & made sure my table was good , also had a nice vibe & great music. 10/10 would recommend oh and those oysters chefs kiss.

I’ll start with the best! Fried chicken taste homemade and is about as good as you can get in Nola. French frys and Calamari were very good but menu didn’t say graded cheese on the calamari. PO-Boy bread was special but not special enough too only put 6-8 oysters on a 12 inch sandwich. ( we ordered two sandwiches both the same) The oysters were fresh and had a good flavor. Honestly we just expected a normal amount of seafood from such a nostalgic New Orleans Oyster house. All in all we visited because its an oyster house, and thats where they fell short. We may try it again, but were not running back

My wife and I were craving some grilled oysters and we decided to give Mr. Ed’s a try. We were both very happy with both styles of oysters and the stuffed red fish dinner. We will definitely be back when the seafood cravings strike again!
