My wife had gnocchi with meat sauce, and while the gnocchi and marinara were very good, the “meat” part of the sauce was chopped up meatballs, which were not great. Easily avoided by just getting plain sauce next time , but a little disappointing.
If anyone from Crow’s Nest sees this, three suggestions. Revamp the meatballs – I suggest more herbs, garlic, and *definitely* salt. Throw the garlic bread on the flat top for a minute to crisp it up, then add the cheese and stick it under the broiler if needed. And if I were put in charge of the buckeye pie, I would add more whipped cream, chopped dry-roasted peanuts instead of “peanut butter” chips, and offer a drizzle of chocolate syrup – nothing fancy, simple Hershey’s syrup would be fine. Thank you for listening.
The beverages and the food came out, plenty chilled, or good and hot. Got an assortment of sandwiches, pizza, wings, and pastas. The portions were good, along with the prices. Most people thought it was good, but not great. Personally I thought the fresh cut fries were mediocre.
Better than bar food, but wouldn’t make the drive from Conneaut if we were looking for a similar meal.
My husband and I were recommended to try it out and it didn’t not disappoint! Even though the place was jamming already at 4:00 on a Saturday, we were attended to very quickly. We sat on the bar side at a table by the entry door. There are lots of tvs around the bar space so if you are a sports fans you will not miss a play! One of the bartenders came over right away to greet us and drop off menu. We ordered a couple drafts and they arrived to the table pretty quick.
They have a good variety of selection on the menu. We ordered a coconut shrimp app as well as a rigatoni dinner and a manacotti dinner. My husband’s dinner came with a salad, I upgraded my selection with a side salad too.
The app arrived to our table in good time along with our niced sized salads and a basket of the best tasting Italian bread!
Our pasta dinners arrived just as we were finishing up our salads and were both amazing! Both were a good portion and tasted delicious. We both opted for the meat sauce. It was very tasty. I perfer a sweet sauce and this was right on point.
Too full to clean our plates, we were excited to be able to take leftovers home for a nice lunch the next day so we could enjoy the tasting again!
Great place! Very big seperate dinning room too!
Clean and well staffed!
Put this place on you list to visit !
One member of our group remembered the Crow’s Nest from a previous visit. The parking lot was full, which seemed to validate the 4.5 stars.
We were immediately seated in a crowded 1950s vibe dining area. The menu card was simple American and Italian food with specials on an electric board. We ordered a mixed bag, burger special with onion rings subbed for fries for a $1 uncharged. Fried shrimp with soup instead of fries. Pork chops. Bread and salads appeared quickly. The entrees came shortly after, and that’s when the thing went sideways. The server dropped shrimp off the plate. The burger had fries, not onion rings. So everything went back to the kitchen to get sorted. When the shrimpcame back she explained since the soup was subbed for fries there shouldn’t have been fries but since they were out of shrimp and couldn’t replace the ones that were dropped, they offered fries instead of the lost shrimp. The burger was burnt, which was good because without any seasoning, the burnt was the only taste. The chops were dry and tasteless. Even the green beans with visible chopped garlic were tasteless.
Our group now has a new memory of Crow’s Nest, and it isn’t good.
