2/21/26 I hope my review becomes a good guide (with 2 recent visits) to Bearwaters THAT IS UNDERGOING A CHANGE FROM THE BREWERY.
Was in town this week while visiting the casino. After the first visit, had to come back.
We are from the Charlotte area and eat out a couple times/week. The food and service here is comparable to high end restaurants in Charlotte.
Immediately greeted by friendly staff that you knew was professionally trained by management. Everyone was available to assist. Just reviewing the menu you knew this was going to be top notch food. Very clean and woodsy atmosphere from the brewery. Outside has seating next to a babbling brook!
The Thai food is outstanding, comparable to the real thing and motherly made by a cook from Thailand. You can view the food being made near the bar. Get the duck dish!
Impressive wood fired pizza was great! Had the signature Appalachian and
spinach artichoke made by pizza wizard Kyler.
I cannot speak to the meatier parts of the menu but that will be on the next visit. The plates I saw look outstanding. Learned there are 3 kitchen areas and the chef’s kitchen (chef Neil) handles the meat selections.
A great beer selection which includes many local beers.
I know all this through bartender and manager Alex as he explained all the changes happening and their goals to make this one of the top food places in the area. The name will change very soon.
Definitely make this one of your stops if you live here or are visiting.

We had the Bear pizza and it was pretty darn good. The toppings and cheese were spread over from edge to edge on a thin crust. This was our 2nd time here and we plan on coming back to try a different pizza. The first time here we had the cheese steak which was excellent and very tender. Definitely give this place a try.

A little creekside brewpub on the Southside of the smoky mountains. I genuinely felt sorry for everyone driving by. They have no idea what is coming out of this kitchen. This Thai fusion dish, Pad Kaphrao, was simply out of some other place. I don’t know who the chef is, but she put something together that was unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Taste buds firing on all cylinders.
And I ate it on a deck overlooking Maggie Creek, perfect evening, perfect setting. The weather was just… right. My wait staff was very pleasant. She suggested the protein and spice level, which was Spot on.
It was a perfect “two beer” meal. I seriously dont want to eat anything else for the next hour to let this experience lock into my mind.
If you drive by this place without experiencing what this chef can do, you’re denying yourself an incredible meal that you won’t soon forget.

We were coming out of the Smokes from looking at leaves and traffic was terrible so we took the long way home through Maggie Valley. Man I’m glad we did. This place sits right on the side of a creek. It has a great outdoor deck and sits right over the creek. They had a great cocktail selection and a menu with a wide variety of things from fresh trout to burgers to Thai. Both my wife and I had just a great meal after hiking all day. It wasn’t as expensive as you would expect. Just a great experience.

Come here if you want GOOD homemade meals – the Chef uses family recipes as well as his own creations and they will not disappoint. The Pot Roast and Blackened Cherry Pork Tenderloin are to die for!!! Can’t wait to be back.

Best kept secret in WNC – amazing and authentic Thai dishes, native-fusion pub fare, regular live piano music, creek-side al fresco dining and palate-tingling local brews! What’s not to like? Our go-to when we want a worthy meal out in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to the Bearwaters team, who keep coming back stronger than ever after each flood or hurricane, it seems!

Really good chicken and French dip on the river. We came on a 90 degree day and stepped area back and found ourselves in Gods air conditioning. The cool sparkling waters add to the beauty of Maggie Valley and our Smoky Mountains. Great craft beer – I had a lager and Pilsner – good times!

Food was amazing, beer was delicious, staff was friendly, and pets are accepted on the patio! The views from outside were pretty & quiet as we listened to the babbling creek and the birds

Loved this place!! The bartender Ally was the sweetest and gave great recommendations. She even waited our table when we decided to stay with our service dog after getting drinks. The pretzels, beer cheese, pickle fries, and smash burger were amazing! Definitely recommend stopping here!

BearWaters Restaurant was an amazing experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately set the tone for a great meal. The food was excellent—especially the salmon, which was cooked perfectly, and the pizza, which was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. On top of that, the building itself is really unique and adds a lot of character to the experience. The beautiful creekside views make it even better and create such a relaxing atmosphere. Great food, great people, and an unforgettable setting—I’ll definitely be back!
