Third time visiting Union Local 613. Overall great experience.
FOOD: The Shrimp & Grits ($32) was fantastic and delicious, and is also very well-priced for the quantity. I would definitely have it again. I previously had their famous Union Fried Chicken ($29) which I really enjoyed.
DRINKS: The Smore Plz ($20) was great.
SERVICE: Our server was friendly and very attentive (e.g., was extremely diligent in filling our water even after we stopped ordering).
AMBIENCE: The restaurant is nice on a regular day but the christmas decor is especially pretty and festive.
NOTE: They do not accept Amex which is understandable but a big sore spot for me.

LOVE their speakeasy in the basement. The vibes are amazing, and the drinks are even better. I requested something seasonal and got a warm apple cider with apple pie flavours. It was AMAZING, and drinks come pretty fast. Their bartender has great creativity and a high level of skill. Cocktails are $15-22 from what I’ve observed, and definitely worth going for.

Nice cosy spot with unique decor, but the food is not great and the portion is small given the price.
only fulfilling part about the meal was the cornbread, which was large enough. Can’t believe they charge 30 bucks for a leg of chicken and some cornbread and a tiny portion of greens. Definitely not coming back again. Zero value for the money. I had to go to another restaurant for a proper dinner afterwards which never happened before !

Eclectic & cozy atmosphere & amazing cocktails. Food was great too, the fried chicken was delicious and a huge portion.

I went here tonight for my birthday, and it was truly an amazing experience. Our server was incredibly knowledgeablesharing fun and interesting facts about every dish we ordered and they were genuinely kind and attentive the entire evening. The food was absolutely outstanding; every plate was full of flavor and beautifully presented. I couldn’t have asked for a better celebration. Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere and service. Had the hush puppies to start which were delicious! Husband had chicken and grits while I chose shrimp and grits with a dollop of pork belly on top. Waiter came by to see how things were and I mentioned that the grits could be warmer. He immediately insisted on taking it back to the kitchen for a redo. Came back with a new plate 10 minutes later. Both meals were great and the drink menu is very impressive! Customer service 10/10

Love love this dining experience. Food is delicious. Cocktails were unique, very good. Service was excellent. We ordered a variety of appetizers which they kindly made a platter for us, making it easier to share. Highly recommend for an enjoyable evening out in Ottawa!!

Our friends introduced us to this establishment and we were pleasantly surprised. We were able to reserve a table downstairs in The Speakeasy and it was very intriguing indeed. It’s a small and cozy space. The bartender was great with her cocktail creations. You just tell her what you like and she will conjure up a tasty beverage. The food was great as well. I didn’t have their fried chicken which apparently they are known for but the bass that I had was superb! The service was great! The only little gripe I have is that I found it a little too dark for my liking. I realize that it’s part of the ambiance and setting but I would have liked to see more clearly what I was eating But that’s a minor thing and overall I really enjoyed the experience and will likely return for another go.

I just love their vibe, stuffs and obviously duck wings. One of the coolest pub in ottawa. I love their house made tonic and special sauce. I go crazy for that. I will recommend to all of my friends to try them.

I would definitely say that the price point for the afternoon tea was disappointing (around $60 per person). For only $10 more at the Fairmont Château Laurier, you receive a wider and higher-quality tea selection, better pastries, a more fitting atmosphere, separate trays per person, and overall more items to taste. It made little sense to me that this high tea was priced almost the same when the quality and service simply were not there, especially considering that one tray was shared between two people while each person was still charged $60.
I would strongly recommend reconsidering this pricing, although I understand that businesses aim to maximize profit. Another point worth noting: sweet scones should be served with jam and clotted cream at the very least.
Overall, the experience did not meet the expectations of a sold-out event at this price point. This was my third visit, and unfortunately my third disappointment with the quality of the food relative to the cost. Additionally, waitress ranting about upper management during the service was off-putting and inappropriate for a high-tea setting.
I hope you will seriously consider this feedback and not view it as a dissatisfied rant.
P.S. I received an email prompting me to share feedback, but I never received a response.
