This place is a local gem! The snack and dairy bar has been around forever, and the food is always consistently great. Whether it’s a quick bite or a treat on a summer day, it never disappoints. The atmosphere is always fun and welcoming—just a classic spot that never loses its charm.

Almost $40 for two hot dogs (1 plain, 1 chili cheese), two fries (1 plain, 1 sweet) a cheeseburger, a bottle of water and a small lemonade. Where to begin? I’m starting to think I have bad luck with hamburger and hot dog places because how can these places be anround for so long yet constantly get so many things wrong? Asked for my chili cheese hot dog split and extra charred, it was neither. They “melt” slices of American cheese on top of the chili, not the hot dog which I thought was weird. Asked for the plain fries to be extra crispy, they were solidly undercooked. Chili cheese dog’s bun was only toasted on one side so when they heaped so much chili and cheese on the dog, the left side of my bun basically disintegrated while I was trying to eat it. Now I know why so many people were ordering the chili in cups instead of on their dog. It’s a decent chili but super hearty so it doesn’t make for a good hot dog chili. Cheeseburger was good: char grilled, tasted exactly like if I’d made a burger on the grill at home which was exactly what I wanted. I’d go back but only if I was in the area. Unfortunately, I would not drive 40 minutes out of my way again for this. My favorite item was their spicy brown mustard.

Stopped at Denmo’s Famous for a quick bite and it sure hit the spot. Hot dog was fresh off the grill, bun soft, and the toppings were piled on right, not stingy. Fries came out hot and crispy, and the folks at the window were friendly and fast. Good little stand to grab a simple, tasty meal when you are on the go

After seeing other reviews, we made it a point to stop here on our road trip. It did not disappoint! The crab cake sammie was so delicious, my husband devoured his hot dog and the fries were fantastic! Denmo came out and hung out at our table and he was just the friendliest, down to earth guy. We chatted about the history of the place, the area- overall a great spot for us to grab a bite, stretch your legs and enjoy good food!

It’s about time I gave more of an updated review for Denmo’s! This spot holds a lot of nostalgia for me, and I was so glad to visit again recently. Their famous split Hummel hot dogs were just as great as I remember them! We also really enjoyed their lobster roll, homemade crab cake sandwich, Philly cheesesteak, onion rings, and housemade chili. The milkshakes from here are always great too, and it was a perfect evening to sit outside and satisfy some summertime cravings. The food came out quickly, and the staff were nice. There will be many more trips to come!

The food is always good here but recently I think it changed hands. The clam strips went from awesome down to just flowery doughy no flavor lamb strips. I think they don’t make them with the cornmeal anymore so it doesn’t give that sweetness crunch to it anymore. very disappointed hopefully they figure it out and bring it back. That was my favorite thing to get there. I can’t really judge the rest of it as I think it has a different ownership now so I’m not sure what else has changed. Service is always good though.

First time at Denmo’s and it won’t be our last. Didn’t feel like cooking last night and dropped in around 7pm. Short line. Nice gentleman took our order, verified it with us before we paid so that there are no errors. I tried the pastrami Reuben. It was awesome! My son had a half pound burger (which is 2 – 1/4 pound patties) with chili. He really enjoyed it. We also tried the fries, onion rings, and a small clam strips. Eat them while their hot! Food was ready within 10 minutes, cooked to order. About $50 for 3 people (with the extra clam strips because I had to try them), otherwise about $13/person. Definitely recommend.

Go to place for whole belly fried clams!
Delish! Done to perfection. Fair price.
Fried pickles are also excellent. With Chipotle ranch sauce.
Good serving of pickles.
If you like whole belly clams, head to Denmos
Picnic tables to enjoy your meal outdoors.
If you like, walk next door for a couple beers, wine, etc.
Always a treat!

Great stop on the weekend with plenty of parking on side & in the back. It looks like they cleaned up/updated the back patio area to make a little larger or cleaner. (I came last year and remember it feeling a bit smaller, maybe I am wrong). Either way; plenty of seating or pop your trunk and enjoy you lunch or ice cream.

I feel it is a bit pricy for the type of food offered, portions of food and for the fact that you get your own food and return your tray when done. I brought two children and between two chicken/fries meals, and a hot dog/fries with 2 small drinks. I spent about $40+. Went back up for 3 small, soft-serve ice creams and spent about $10 more.

You may see some pups as people like to come after a day at the Southbury Dog Park.

Overall nice little stop. Would have given 5 stars if not for the portions/prices.

This is the right spot to go get a quick snak with your love one or kids. Is very family center. Nothing fancy, but is more to get your mind off the daily stress. Is perfect to make new friends.
