They sell po boys but I should have known even after I looked over the menu and noticed that they didn’t say the po boy was served on French bread, and because it wasn’t, the roll they used was too soft to hold the ingredients. You had to ask for hot sauce and they put the meager portions of lettuce and tomato on the side. If you are looking for an authentic po boy, look elsewhere. To be fair, they opened their first restaurant in Mississippi and not Louisiana (New Orleans). I guess that’s on me. Although I didn’t try anything on their menu, my guess is any other Cajun food would fall short when stacked up to real Cajun food.

From start to finish, my experience at Ralph & Kacoo’s was nothing short of exceptional. This restaurant truly excels in every area—food, service, and presentation.

The moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and seated promptly. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations.

The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was bursting with flavor, made with high-quality ingredients, and cooked to perfection. It was clear that a lot of thought and skill went into every recipe. From appetizers to dessert, each plate was a delight.

On top of that, the presentation was stunning. Every dish was beautifully plated, making the meal feel like a work of art. The attention to detail elevated the entire dining experience.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers in every aspect, Ralph & Kacoo’s is the place to go. I can’t wait to return!

I have never heard or seen this restaurant before and also it was close by my hotel. I did read the reviews and decided to check them out for dinner. The atmosphere felt pleasant and the severs were very nice and polite, also my server made sure I needed refills on my drink. The reason I am giving it a three stars was because of the food was a hit or miss and I didn’t get any utensils when my food arrived, I had to asked for utensils. I ordered the King Louie salad combo (shrimp and crab) and I asked for no red onions or hard boiled eggs. After I placed my order, my server asked me if I wanted any bread and butter and I said yes. After I got my bread, the bread was freshly baked and it was delicious, the bread was cooked all the threw and it soft and fluffy inside and the bottom of the rolls where perfectly crispy. But with the salad, it was a let down. When I got it, there was only shrimp no crab and they got rid of the red peppers, but I appreciatd having the dressing on the side. When my server came around, I told her I ordered the combo and they only gave me the shrimp and they got rid of the red peppers and I told her only no red onions and no hard boiled eggs, and didn’t get any utensils when my food came. She took the salad back the kitchen to get the crab on my salad and some utensils. When she brought back the salad and some utensils, she forgot the red peppers so she went back in the kitchen to get me a side of red peppers, but before she went back she asked if I wanted anymore bread and I said yes. After coming back with a side of red peppers and a basket full of bread, I thank her and started eating, the salad was kind of a disappointment, the shrimp was good but the crab tasted that it came out of a can and the seafood salad dressing was not really good (it tasted like a thousand island dressing with some stir in crab meat from the can in the dressing). Not to be mean, but they really messed up this salad bad. I don’t know what was going on in the kitchen that day, but it was bad communication between the server and the cooks. I did eat all and I was just disappointed on the salad. So I asked my server if I can order some dessert and ordered their bread pudding with bourbon butter sauce with toasted pecans. I got it and it was big and it was nice and warm, smelled amazing, and it had a cherry. I took a bite, it was pretty hot but it tasted amazing. It was made and tasted just like how my mom makes her bread pudding at home, it was cooked perfectly. I would come back, but I would be ordering something else and not the salads ever again. If anyone is passing by or staying in a hotel for the night, I would recommend giving it a chance to try but beware the food can be a hit or a miss.

Our food was fantastic!!!
My husband had shrimp & sausage on a bed of smoked gouda grits. Those grits were the bomb!!! I had the ultimate chicken sandwich, fries & coleslaw very good!!! Our friend ordered jambalaya, & she loved it.
We started our meal with the Taste of Louisiana. It’s been a long time since we’ve eaten alligator, crawfish & shrimp. That appetizer did not disappoint!!!
Our server was Jonathan & he was nice, informative & attentive. Overall I’d give this restaurant 5 stars!!

Everything great, except. 5 dollars for 4 onion rings seemed excessive

So the food is nothing short of phenomenal. And the portion size is out of control. I ordered country fried steak, my buddy had fettuccine by the sea and we had onion rings for appetizers. There’s no possibility to eat everything. Now, the onion rings are the best (by far) I’ve ever had – no comparison.
Service is ok, nothing wrong, just not over the top like everything else.
I’m coming to Lufkin every year just to fish and eat here!

I had a pleasant experience, the steak was cooked to perfection but our appetizer came out when our main dishes did and they did not bring us more bread when we asked, guess they forgot. But it was okay cause we got our food, very nice atmosphere and service was decent.

I remember going to Ralph and Kacoo’s in New Orleans over 20yrs ago and when I saw this location in Lufkins it brought back memories on how good the food was. I remember the waitress telling us to put sine butter on hushpuppies, I was like who does that, but it was great and the food was great. This location is not New Orleans and clearly things have changed. First of all Ashley was great, she was attentive and kept asking us if we needed anything. Second of all the food was not good at all…AT ALL…We had to ask and clarify if this was real catfish, because the menu said it was catfish and it is not, it is Swai, with catfish prices. The manager said they have to go unthaw the catfish and it’s going to take a bit to get our food. Now if you are a catfish eater, you know what catfish taste like. Even when we waited for the catfish it didn’t taste like catfish. The food was unseasonably, no flavor at all and to spend almost $80 on three entrees I was very disappointed. I ordered the Catfish Coodrie, it was supposed to be a blackened, grilled and fried piece of catfish topped with crawfish etouffee over white rice. The fried piece tasted like long john silver and the blackened and grill look like they barely touched the grill again no flavor and the rice was unflavored borderline crunchy and the etouffee unflavored and unsalted. (see pictures). Even with my brothers seafood platter, he said it wasn’t catfish..My mother liked her stacked pork chops with the orka, the onion rings, the rolls were good, and the hushpuppies were greasy, but I don’t think I can recommend this restaurant to anyone. You have to go for yourself and do your own review. If you are not going to sell real catfish, put fried fish on your menu so it won’t be false advertisement!

Horrible. All three of our orders came out wrong. And has anybody ever heard of boudan made with pulled pork? Ours tasted like spam
To polish up this disaster they tried to over charge us $3 on two of our orders. We are not going to discuss the slow & lousy service.
Never will we return.
