Great Mexican cuisine. You can speak English or Spanish. Plenty of choices to eat, from tacos to soups.

When i got here i waited around 5 min for someone to put us on the waiting list, around 10min to be assign to a table. I ordered birria and it was alright not the best. The hand made tortillas was good. My wife ordered fish and that was better then the birria even though she didn’t like. The place looked nice with the lights on top. I believe I paid 30-40 for two.

I recommend this restaurant. The food is flavorful, authentic, and not extremely expensive. The portions are large as well. The atmosphere is nice. Very ethnic and felt at home. Tortillas seem to be home made as well as the sopes. The birria was excellent. The menu is extensive carrying a lot of the mexican food I crave

I had a fantastic experience at La Barquita! Betty provided excellent service — friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home. I ordered the machaca with eggs, and it was perfectly prepared. The beans were incredible — definitely not from a can — and the freshly made corn tortillas were absolutely delicious. The chips and salsa served at the start of the meal were fresh and flavorful too. This place is truly a hidden gem — the kind of hole-in-the-wall spot you might miss if you’re not looking for it. Highly recommend stopping by and asking for Betty(:

My dad has been raving about this place and trying to get me to visit, and finally, I did. What I discovered was an absolute gem of an authentic Mexican restaurant. It may not catch your eye from the outside, but the moment you step through its doors, you’re in for an extraordinary experience.

First and foremost, the service here is exceptional. It’s like being welcomed into a close-knit family. The staff is incredibly attentive, sweet, and they make you feel right at home. Their warm hospitality adds a unique and heartwarming dimension to the dining experience.

Now, let’s talk about the food – it’s nothing short of unreal. Every dish bursts with flavor, and you can tell it’s made with the freshest ingredients. From the first bite, you’re transported to the heart of Mexico. It’s a true culinary adventure, and I can’t get enough of it.

This place might not have the flashy exterior of some restaurants, but trust me, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Once you step inside, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of authenticity and warmth that’s hard to find elsewhere.

If you’re on the hunt for the best authentic Mexican cuisine and a dining experience that feels like family, look no further. This hidden gem has it all – incredible food, top-notch service, and an ambiance that will keep you coming back for more.

This place can be a bit hidden but definitely not forgetful. Once you have experienced the food here you will forever remember its location. The food here has roots that go further down south than you think. I ordered the Huevos con Nopal which is scrambled eggs with slices of prickly pair and some added seranos chiles for a little kick. Beans and rice as always the best combo to go with a good meal. Tortillas were also good. I left full and ready to order something to go that will not disappoint my dad who was born in Sinaloa Mexico. I will be ordering the Mohara meal and I’m sure he’s gonna love it. Will always be returning until this place is no more aka forever. Be patient on the weekends. It does get busy and church goers will invade on Sundays.

This is definitely a gem in Phoenix, and it’s not hidden. Their breakfast plates are great, but the pancakes are the reason I never miss a chance to eat here. I don’t know how they make their pancakes, but they are insane; I don’t even have to use syrup, they’re great just like that. The service is always nice, but their food is always great. Make sure you try the Birria!

Update 01/20/2026:
We decided to bring my parents to La Barquita during the first week of January, and let me tell you, the food was still top-notch. Even my picky parents were impressed.

Now, let’s get to the real tea. The food might be amazing, and our server (bless his heart) might be kind if a little slow, but there’s a certain red-haired woman with glasses who seems to think customer service is optional. She was rude when we walked in, rude when I asked a simple question about the bill, and downright cold when my brother went to pay. She didn’t even speak! If she reads this: yes, ma’am, it’s me calling you out. I’m the one matching your energy in this review, because everyone else might let it slide, but I won’t.

In summary: the food’s worth the trip, but be prepared to deal with the red-haired gatekeeper of bad vibes. Hopefully management takes note, because I definitely won’t be the last to say it…
