The 49er Truckstop Diner in Sacramento is always one of our go-to stops before heading into the Bay Area. We grabbed breakfast here and it was excellent—fresh, generous portions and the perfect start to the day.
What makes this spot great is that it works for both truckers and locals. You can enter from the truck side or the vehicle side, and there’s plenty of parking either way. Prices are fair, and the menu is full with something for everyone. The setup is kind of a hybrid: you order at the counter café-style, then sit down and they bring everything out to you. Honestly, it works really well.
The diner has been freshly remodeled, it’s very clean, and has a great aesthetic that makes you want to sit and stay awhile. Overall, excellent food, friendly service, and a perfect stop whether you’re in a big rig or just passing through Sacramento.

Korena is fabulous every time I come here she recommends the best of the best for breakfast here. You gotta get the chocolate cake, it’s phenomenal.
Also, the portions of their meals is huge and two full-size adults could easily share one plate and leave Full. It’s my to go place whenever I am stuck at the airport waiting for clients.
I’ll go to the 49er diner and have a meal. It’s like 10 minutes away.. I love, leaving with leftovers and having wonderful desserts to take home.

I’ve been a truck driver for about four months now, and me and my wife have stopped at several places to eat on the road. We’ve often been let down by restraints at truck stops and felt that we have wasted our money. This location was different we had a wonderful server named Korena who was actually passionate about her job and served our meal with a huge smile and personality. The food was fantastic and it felt like we were back home at a nice sit down restaurant that you take the family to on pay day.

This diner is fantastic! The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. I first came to this diner ten years ago and returned today while driving to Sacramento, California. The diner is incredible and the food is consistently perfect. I will definitely come back when I’m in this area again, as I live in Portland; otherwise, I would visit more frequently. A perfect 10/10 place.

Beautiful cobb salad, and a chicken fried steak dinner. A little dry, but really good flavor. Plus desert!!! Really good all around. And the server Jennifer was friendly, and a pleasure to deal with. Honestly, you had the 5 stars just from her, but the food really made our day!

Stopped by this evening for dinner. I had the smoked 1/2 chicken dinner. This is becoming one of my favorite stops. They are straightening out the parking lot for semi parking, which is nice. I’m starting to really looking forward to eating here. The chicken was really good. Moist, good smoke flavor, nice sweet from the brown sugar and a little kick from the spiced. They got several TV’s going and they play my kind of music:-). The waitress is super nice and her husband works in the back. They got a good thing going.

Let me tell ya’ll a little something about that “French Toast breakfast”… country potatoes (don’t forget to ask for peppers and onions), two perfectly cooked over easy eggs and meat of your choice (I opted for ham steak), and of course the star of the show, 4 hearty pieces of the most delectable French toast I’ve had outside my very own kitchen. Everything was perfect, including the service. Hats off to the Chefs here at the 49er Diner, and let’s not fail to mention the lovely Korena for providing the best service possible, thank you all for giving us drivers great meal options and always being so kind and welcoming.
