Details: Teenage daughter and I wanted something warm for dinner but didn’t have the energy or etiquette anymore for a civilized meal in a restaurant- we needed something we could eat in our tiny hotel room without the outside world participating. Listen. If you’re in the area and want a pizza to go, this is the place. The capricciosa was cooked perfectly, egg slightly firmer than over easy so just a minimal but perfect amount of yolk run, and it had the right balance of sauce, cheese and toppings. Friendly welcome even when I fought through very weak French and gave up and switched to only slightly better Italian to order for takeaway. Not may customers on a Monday just at opening meant the pizza was done in less than 10 mins. The best pizza I’ve had in a very long time.
Looking for a morsel that is worthy of a Me.
I bypassed all the fondue, the chocolate, and the cheese,
I’m a Bavarian blue-blood, I’m quite difficult to please.
I stepped into La Trottania, a rustic little spot,
The ambiance was charming, but the kitchen? It was hot.
I signaled to the waiter with a flick of gold-ringed wrist,
“Bring me something liquid with a crisp and fruity twist.”
At La Trottania, where the wood-fire glows,
In the heart of Geneva, where the money flows.
The pizza’s got a kick like a stallion in the night,
And the “juice” in the glass is a Bavarian delight.
Now, let us discuss the beverage—a curious little ruse,
The label said “Apple Juice,” but I’m not one to confuse.
It had a golden clarity, a frothy, foamy head,
“Is this for children, waiter?”—”No, it’s Vitamin A,” he said.
I took a sip, I took a gulp, the bubbles started dancing,
This ‘juice’ is fermented! It’s positively entrancing!
It’s the best ‘apple cider’ that a German’s ever seen,
I’ll take a dozen bottles for my estate in Tegernsee.
Then came the main event, the circle of desire,
A pizza topped with peppers and a soul made out of fire.
The crust was thin and leopard-spotted, charred to perfection,
A spicy masterpiece that bypassed my rejection.
One bite—Mein Gott!—my noble palate was aflame,
I’m sweating through my silk shirt, but I do not feel the shame.
It’s hot enough to melt the Alps, it’s spicy, bold, and grand,
The finest piece of pastry in this neutral little land.
So if you’re in the city and your wallet’s feeling heavy,
Forget the watch boutiques and the yachts upon the jetty.
See Arnold at the corner table, basking in the glory,
With a pizza and some “juice”—it’s a legendary story.
Cheers.
Highly recommend their pizza and the chili oil. The chili went really well with the pizza.
Generous serving of pasta, although personally a little overcooked.
Grazie ancora alla team !
