TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

It’s nice they have the option of no spice. It’s a nice sentiment as I was with my daughter. Good to know that just because it was no spice didn’t mean there was no flavor. I would not say it is bland.
I personally got medium spice since that seemed like a good place to start this grand adventure. It was quite good. There was enough kick to make it feel worth it but it was also tempered enough I feel now I could go hotter.
The seasoning on the fries was good, just wish there was a little more, or even just more evenly.

I’m ready to go back.
The fries.
I normally don’t like crinkle cut fries, but the way DHC always serves theirs hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, I simply cannot pass these up. Hands down, the best crinkle cut fries Ive had in a while. Now they serve loaded fries as an option, like what!? I can’t wait to try these bad boys.
I’m glad they sell shakes here. Definitely need it when your mouth is on fire. Their Kale slaw is a great complement and refresher for your taste buds. If you dine in, take advantage of their fountain drinks that’s on par with that crispness level of carbonation McDonalds are well known for.
10/10 food and service
Would recommend to a friend.
The atmosphere was fun and inviting. It gave me fast food diner vibes with a modern twist. The graffiti artwork on the walls to the rubber chicken everywhere was colorful and well done. The front area was clean and well lit. The employees were very welcoming and super helpful. They explained how the spice levels worked and our options, including recommending some things if we hadn’t decided already.
We went with the two slider combo and some Not Chicken bites. The Not Chicken is cauliflower bites fried and seasoned. The Sliders are full sandwiches with a big chicken tender on a potato bun with coleslaw and sauce. The combo came with seasoned crinkle cut fries, and both came with a side of pickles.
With the chicken hanging out of the bun, I had to go for a bit of that by itself first. I have to say, this is done of the best chicken I’ve had in my life. I went with medium spice, and it just blew me away. The flavor was fantastic, the spice level was a pleasant medium spice, a combo of a dry rub and marinade from the feel of it, and the chicken was juicy and well portioned. I took a bite with the bun and slaw and was just as blown away. Then I took one of the honey packets, added it to the sandwich, and this somehow kicked it up to a whole other level.
So, the chicken was a star at this point. Then I tried the fries, and they were phenomenal as well! Very nicely seasoned, not overly salty, and delicious. Then the Not Chicken bites, and this just blew me away as well. Everything was top-tier flavor and texture and spice.
On top of that, the front workers were personable, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Top notch service for top-notch food.
I highly recommend trying it out, and I think I might make it a regular place to eat for lunch whenever I’m in the area and looking for a place to eat away from work. I know I’m already looking forward to the next order and I’m still full from my last meal there!
