While staying at the Sutton Hotel for the evening, Chop Steakhouse & Bar was a very convenient dining experience and parking was no issue for us. It could be more challenging otherwise. We dined by the bar so I do not have photos available for the main dining are but it looked beautiful, cozy with dim lighting and comfortable booth sitting. This was my first time dining here and I wish I had more time to try main courses but we had a hockey game to attend so we focused our choices on the appetizer and soup/salad menus. The steak bites were DELICIOUS . Perfectly charred, rich mahogany finish, succulent, and fork tender and when sliced, they did not lose their juice too soon. Included are two dipping options- golden mustard, horseradish aioli. My personal favorite was the golden mustard. I honestly can’t wait to try a steak dinner on the Main Menu one day. I also had the French onion soup which was one of the best I’ve ever tried. Props to the chef! It has a very robust broth balanced with sweet, jammie onions and topped with a gooey cheese crust perfectly melted. LOVED IT!!! For dessert , we shared the Sticky Toffe Sundae and it was sooooo good! Sticky toffee pudding layered with vanilla gelato, whipped crème brûlee & sponge toffee and a mouth watering presentation. The menu has gluten conscious and vegetarian options available. The staff were friendly, menu knowledgeable, and checked in with us often. Definitely a great option for dining if staying at the Sutton Hotel!

Had a nice time here. The food was ok but not what I was expecting.. we were sat by the door near the hotel entrance.. that’s ok.. We had the dine around menu and some of the food was great some lacked heat felt like it may have sat for a bit?? The mains were good but could have been warmer and the green beans were kind of crunchy.. the dessert was nice I enjoyed the creme brulee. We took the other dessert home because my boyfriend is diabetic. Honestly I expected a little more for what I spent and a expensive steakhouse at that. I don’t even eat steak much, but I thought my boyfriend would like it.

We had an amazing time celebrating our engagement anniversary tonight. We got recognized by Jeremy the assistant manager! He remembered us and asked if we had picked a date yet, which we did & he was thrilled to hear the date. The service by Sherry was impeccable and the food? To die for.

Reserved the private room for double birthday celebration. Room was not ready at 8:00pm when I made the reservation & they didn’t know when the room would be ready. Had to take a table in order to get the decorations up before the birthday girls arrive. Had a non alcoholic drink, asked for it in a martini glass & was told sure but got it in another type. Ordered ceaser salad which was good and tuna , but no chop sticks which I was confused about. Desert was great! Over all experience was a bit disappointing.

What an amazing experience this place was. From the moment we arrived they made us feel welcomed, the atmosphere was elegant and cozy. The service was incredible.
To the Chefs, you can honestly tell how much passion these Chefs have, the food was to die for. Stunning really all around. Bold flavours that complimented so well. Perfectly cooked steaks, my fiancee had the burger and she loved it.
The drinks were really good as well. One of the best whiskey sours I’ve had in awhile.

We’ve been to the Chop a few times now and we’ll be back! The food is amazing and they know how to cook a steak the right way. If you ask for a steak temperature, it will be cooked to exactly that. The drinks are fabulous and they have a very nice variety of cocktails on the menu. The cheesecake is also the best I’ve ever had with very subtle and refreshing notes of ginger and ice wine infused within. Our server, Sheri, was attentive and very kind. She made sure we were happy and well taken care of!

Wonderful experience celebrating our anniversary here. The staff and manager were very kind and personable and the service was excellent. When they found out it was our anniversary they brought out complimentary bubbly, and even a card hand signed by the staff at the end of the meal. Food was delicious and the prices are extremely reasonable. We will absolutely be returning!

I recently visited Chop Steakhouse and ordered the steak bites, a side of mushrooms, and the “loaded” mashed potatoes. The steak bites were very salty, which took away from enjoying the flavor. The mashed potatoes were described as loaded, but to my surprise did not come with cheese. They came with a drizzle of sour cream and some green onions (I opted out of bacon). It didn’t really feel like true “loaded” potatoes. The mushrooms were just good. Overall, I’ve had better at other local HRM spots like Baton Rouge and Mic Mac Tavern. The meal was fine, but not worth the price of $43+tax +18% tip, for three items, and for the taste compared to other restaurants. The server was nice enough but did not refill any of our waters. A tip is automatically added at 18% which felt like it explains the server being alright but not great. They get tipped well either way so explains the just alright service to me. The lady cleaning the bathroom was friendlier than the server, complimenting peoples outfits and sparking up conversations. Bottom line, I won’t be going back or recommending this place to others.
