When I first moved to NC in 1998 Mayflower was a gem!!! It seemed like they would use a truck to offload popcorn shrimp and clams into your seafood takeout box. But as it always goes no more box!!..now they use a styrafome container which I am sure reduces the gross product. SMH…food was just okay. Maybe I will be back maybe I won’t. People that remember the box know exactly what I am referring to.

Fresh seafood at a reasonable price. Good discounts for seniors as well. My mother loved her whole fried fish. I very much enjoyed the snow crab legs, which had good flavor and were juicy. Batter on fried calamari, pickles, onion rings, and shrimp were a bit thick for our tastes though. Alcohol is not served here and you also cannot BYOB.

My family and I went to the Mayflower Restaurant for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised. The parking is easy in a very large lot next to a mall area. There were no lines or waiting although there was a steady stream of customers. The menu features mostly seafood choices, but there are also chicken, burger and pasta options. The service was great and very attentive to our needs and request. It was some of the best seafood that I have ever tasted. The portions are large but the price is reasonable. We will be going back again.

Great food and decent service. They have several young servers and some need to use more social skills, rather than put the plate down and walk away. Something I, enjoy your food, is there anything else I can do and I’ll check on you again soon. Young kids today text and don’t use there social skills in the work place as it was when I was growing up. But, the place serves excellent, hot food and may be doing there best! Oh-yeah, I also ordered Lemon Chelo cake and it was served to me frozen. This is a No/No! I will still be back tho.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you’re seated the friendly and professional staff make up for it. The food is served to order; our orders were freshly made and hot…even the hushpuppies were made fresh. Our server was very attentive, kept our delicious southern style sweet tea filled; definitely in my top 10 . I was very surprised at the prices for what I ordered verses what I paid. If this was Red Lobster, I would have had to pay double. So, if you’re in the Smithfield/Selma area and you’re craving sea food, this is your diamond in the rough. Must try!

First time at this location, I will surely return.

I splurged on the platter, lemon cake and clam chowder. I did not know until I pulled off, there was a small service fee added, like $1.95.

I almost gave five stars but the breading didn’t stick to scallops, the jumbo shrimp didn’t appear to be deveined, the whitefish was tasteless and no utensils were packed in my bag.

Hey it would be nice to add lemon with the condiments too. I’m not sure if the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce are homemade but they had good flavor.

Tried this location for the first time. Nice atmosphere with a fireplace. The seafood platter was good, but the crab dip was excellent !! That dip is a must-have every time. Definitely will be returning.

The server let us know when she came to our table that she was in training. It was very obvious, we had to ask for most things like paper towels and silverware. The coffee that was served was cold, and we asked if we could get hot coffee, and she did bring hot coffee the next time out. We waited over 30 minutes for the meal to be served, and the restaurant was only serving less than half the tables. During the wait, we couldn’t help but notice the cobwebs along the centerline of the ceiling. The meal was good.

Update: My cousin and I went out for an afternoon meal. I got the senior boiled popcorn shrimp with the side salad and baked potato. Shrimp was were tender and NOT rubbery. Look at the size of the salad. I had to take part of my shrimp home which was not a bad thing. Usually I take photos of the food, but I was too hungry today. My dad took me out for my birthday. He got the whole fried flounder. It took up most of the plate. I took a bite and it was delicious. Crispy on the outside and tender flakey meat on the inside. I had been craving oysters and I got a plate of those with Cole slaw and baked potato. The potato was done but not hard. Butter and sour cream were perfect accompianents. The cole slaw was fresh and not sweet like some are or vinegary. My oysters were tender and hot. They forgot to put hush puppies on my plate and my server brought some out to when notified. Service was great. Wait staff kept getting tables and was able to take care of everyone’s needs with a smile. Update: Today I took my dad out for lunch for his birthday. We got the specials. He got the popcorn shrimp with baby flounder and I got popcorn shrimp with oysters. Great meal again. Actually had enough shrimp to take home for another plate. Great sweet tea.
