However, when we visited again yesterday, there was a noticeable difference in taste. While the sambar still tasted great, the other dishes didn’t quite hit the mark. The peanut chutney was a bit on the sweet side, and the Benne Dosa was unevenly cooked — thick on one side and thin on the other. Tried mint dosa but there isn’t much flavour. The Ghee Podi Thatte Idly also missed the mark. It was too spicy and didn’t have that signature taste I remembered. The Khara Bath was spicier than usual, which I didn’t enjoy as much.
Additionally, the Filter Coffee wasn’t served hot enough, it was just warm which was a letdown. ☕❄️
Pros:
✔️ Authentic South Indian dishes (when made right)
✔️ Sambar is consistently good
✔️ Great variety of options
Cons:
▫️ Inconsistent quality in food
▫️ Dosa wasn’t cooked properly
▫️ Too spicy for my taste this time
▫️ Coffee wasn’t hot enough
I hope it’s just an off day, but I may be hesitant to return anytime soon. I’ll be looking out for improvements.
Drove all the way from Dallas just for the OG Masala Dosa — and it was absolutely worth it. The dosa was perfectly c right in every way. But the real star was the sambar — rich, authentic, and packed with that proper Bangalore flavor.
We also had vade, idly, pheni with warm milk, and filter kapi ❤️ — everything tasted fresh and homely. It genuinely felt like eating back in Bangalore.
If you’re craving real Bangalore-style food, this place truly delivers. I sincerely hope they maintain this same fine taste and consistency.
Will definitely be back!
The setup is more fast-food style, but the place is clean and well maintained. Food was tasty and service was good.
We tried the Tatai Idli, Curry Leaf Dosa, OG Bangalore Style Masala Dosa, and Chow Chow Bath.
The dosa is true Bangalore style — slightly smaller in size, thicker, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The masala filling was flavorful and well balanced. We especially loved the chutney served with the Tatai idli. The sambar was okay.
Filter coffee was really good. We also tried the Gadbad Sundae, which was excellent. The Sugarcane Mojito was refreshing but not worth $10 in our opinion.
Overall, a solid spot for authentic South Indian breakfast/snacks.
Uddina vade: Finally found a place that serves tasty and well cooked vada!!
Benne masala dosa: The taste and texture were really good!! Masala was no spicy (I prefer it that way)
We waited for ~20 min on a saturday afternoon. They have limited items on the menu. But I think all the items are worth a try and would love to try other dishes next time!
If you are looking to try karnataka style Dosa I highly recommend this place.
Food was good and freshly prepared, I loved there Idli it was soft and just melted in your mouth
Dosa was crunchy with their green chutney.
Highly recommend for vegetarian foodies.
Only downside is less options for kids.
Thank you for bringing true Bangalore food culture to Texas! This was my first experience trying the famous Benne Dosa, and it absolutely lived up to the hype…buttery, crisp on the outside, soft inside, and packed with flavor.
We also tried the Bisi Bele Bath, filter coffee, desserts, and more…and everything was fresh, comforting, and beautifully prepared. The flavors felt traditional and nostalgic, exactly what you hope for in a proper South Indian restaurant.
We’ll be back for that Benne Dosa again!
Seating and service were quick inspite of being packed. Must try!
The food is superb and truly authentic — very close to what you get in Bangalore. We tried the ghee podi thatte idli, which was incredibly soft and smooth, and the chutney was absolutely delicious.
We also had the benne masala dosa — simply too good! The green chutney and sambar were excellent. The sambar taste is almost identical to what you find in Bangalore.
The filter coffee was also very good and perfectly complemented the meal.
The place is neat and clean, and the service is good. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but it’s definitely worth spending for the quality and authenticity.
Highly recommended!
We had tatte idli, OG Bengaluru dosa , chow chow bath , bisi bele bath , filter coffee, maddur vada , uddin vada !! Satisfying food, would definitely stop by whenever I visit Austin! Sushmitha was great host!
