I loved everything about Light Years!! We got three plates total to share between two people, and we were definitely filled to the brim. I’d say the food is a little on the pricier side, but it was so worth it. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was really aesthetically pleasing!!

Great Pan Asian cuisine here.

Standouts were the Mushroom dumplings, Corn ribs, watermelon salad, smashed cucumber salad and the prawn roll.

Main critics would be The pork ribs were ok, very soft and falls off the bone but ultimately was missing something? The drinks were also ok, somehow we expected more after the awesome food.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had such a fantastic night at Light Years Burleigh Heads. Every dish was a hit — the eggplant bao buns were soft, rich and perfectly balanced, the ceviche was fresh and bright, and the firecracker chicken had just the right amount of heat. The king prawn roll was indulgent and full of flavour, and the duck pancakes were an absolute standout — melt-in-your-mouth good.
We paired everything with several wines and mocktails, all beautifully made and perfectly suited to the food.
A special shout-out to our waiter Hamish — super attentive without being intrusive, genuinely lovely, and just an absolute joy to have looking after us tonight. He really elevated the whole experience.
Amazing food, great drinks, and impeccable service. We’ll definitely be back.

Food was fantastic. Venue needs some love.

The kingfish ceviche, chilli chicken baos and beef rendang were all excellent. Service was also great.

The space itself felt a little tired though. The bathrooms could definitely use an update (dated lighting, peeling paint, no music or ventilation, floor tiles pattern is wearing off, skirting has a dirty tide mark) and some of the furniture looked worn. The high bar chairs would also be much more comfortable with backrests. Inside is hot and noisy

Still a great dinner overall just feels like the venue needs a refresh to match the quality of the food.

Our experience today 21/02/26
: ordered 2 x Expresso Coconut Cocktails
Both very watery
Staff asked if happy with drinks explained no both watery flavour. So they re made my husband’s & left mine which only had a couple of mouth fulls out of because was not enjoying.
: Selected $99 PP Chefs selection for 2 people. Food flavoursome.
Table Staff very good
Thought they would have not charged 10% surcharge seeing as only one cocktail was a re make

We came here for our anniversary and left really disappointed. When booking, it asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and we said it was our anniversary, but on arrival we were seated in a crowded corner between two large groups. It was so noisy we could barely talk, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy and there were free two-seater tables in a quieter area.
The food was also a let down. We ordered our usual dishes plus the sweet and sour chicken, which was $42. For that price we expected something generous, but it came with only a couple of small pieces of chicken and mostly vegetables. The flavour wasn’t great either, and for $42 it was honestly ridiculous. When the ribs came out, we wanted rice to go with them but had to wait so long to get a staff member’s attention that the ribs were cold by the time the rice arrived.
We’ve always made Light Years part of our anniversary tradition, but after this experience with the seating, food quality, service, and crazy pricing, it sadly feels like it’s not worth coming back.

We loved Light Years! Thank you so much to our lovely waitress, Marley, who provided such friendly and personalised service. We went to celebrate our anniversary after wanting to try out the restaurant for a while and loved every dish we had: special shoutout to the miso corn and mud crab, prawn & scallop dumplings! We will definitely come back to try and squeeze in one of the delicious looking desserts!

You need to book! The service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. The wine selection is vast, with so many options and it’s easy to read. The menu itself is so hard to choose from because all options sound amazing. Out of all the food the best were the dumplings, the pork ribs and salad. The beef rangdang was ok and the chicken was nice enough. Will definitely be back to try other things.

Everything we had was fantastic – the coconut & turmeric curry and the special fried rice were our favourites. Great cocktails & drinks – if you are a white wine drinker try the orange wine for something different.
Great service too & about $60-70 per person (5 people sharing 6 dishes)
