Service was simply okay. First round of cocktails were left empty on the table through the meal. Poor job pre-bussing at 3PM.
The hostess collecting the payment did not understand that I wanted to tip 25% on the subtotal and not the total. She told me, “well that’s not 25%.” Save that for the tourists. Don’t tip on tax!
There is no shortage of incredible food in this area, but no matter how many places we try, we always come back to this one. It is hands-down our favorite. The food is consistently outstanding, the ambiance is beautiful and inviting, and the entire experience feels special every single time.
The staff truly makes it unforgettable — especially Javier, our waiter, who completely elevated our night. He was attentive without hovering, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely kind. You can tell he cares about giving people a great experience, and it shows.
We can’t wait to come back again (and again).
We had a rotation of servers with no communication between them. Service was slow, items were missed. We ordered an appetizer and drinks, and sat so long without someone coming by that we were asked if we were ready for dessert, when we hadn’t even ordered the main courses. The amount of errors made is insane, and never once was there any acknowledgement of an issue.
The food was lackluster. Nothing memorable. We ordered the bone marrow, grilled curry fish, and suckling pig. The bone marrow looked cool, but most of the marrow had flowed off the bone into the charcoal laden pan. The pork was a little dry, but the mole was excellent. They forgot the tortillas. The fish was raw in the middle. We just wanted to leave at this point, it had been almost 3 hours, so we asked for it to be removed, we did not eat any of it.
We received the check, the fish was still included. Just issue after issue. Too many to mention here. Chaotic service, inattentive, lackluster all around.
I generally don’t like to complain about restaurants, I know it’s a tough industry. And I especially don’t want to complain as an American outside my country. My wife is Mexican, and it’s frustrating for us to see Americans complain about service situations (usually loudly, and in English). So I’d like to think we have a high tolerance for these types of issues. This was truly disappointing.
Yes it cost money. We don’t come here for cheap food. We come here for delicious, wholesome and creative meals, served by a caring staff.
