We came here for Christmas dinner and had a great time. We sat on the patio that was nice and warm with the enclosure and space heaters.

I highly recommend getting the deviled eggs to start. They were packed with so much flavor, topped with bacon bits and a potato chip in each one. The perfect start to a great meal.

The beef short rib was fantastic. It was fork-tender and flavorful, sitting atop of root vegetable puree. My Dad got the fried chicken sandwich with fries and really enjoyed it.

For dessert we got the hummingbird cake. Thank god we just got a slice for the table to share because it was so big and rich, 3 of us barely finished it.

A special shoutout to our server Mika. She was so friendly and attentive and was always there in case we needed anything. Great service all around! We’ll definitely be back.

Bottle of La Fete Du Rose ($60) was nice and chilled; Stuffed Peppers ($20) a nice surprise and deliciously prepared along with Pierogies ($18) can’t go wrong! The Beef Short Rib ($35) was tastefully seasoned and great texture. The Famous Fried Chicken ($28) did not disappoint. Harvest salad ($18) had plenty of green and fresh veggies; Chicken Cobb Salad ($21) was a large portion and perfectly prepared. Would definitely go back! Service was just a little slow (especially clearing) but we weren’t in a rush. Great menu and kudos to the chefs.

Very cozy restaurant in chicago.

We went with a group of four people for dinner on a cold Friday night. We made a reservation but the restaurant was at 50-60% capacity.

We ordered fried chicken, the beef rib, and the lamb. Everything took around 20 minutes to be delivered to our table. I would describe food as comfort food very well executed. The fried chicken was nice, the beef rib was perfect, and the lamb was good too.

For dessert, we ordered the key lime pie, very good!

Service was fast and attentive, what is expected of a place of this kind.

Recommend!

Just getting around to writing this review. We dined on 9/16/25 and it was excellent! The four of us walked here from where we were staying in the area. Great outdoor space. Marvelously tasty food with interesting variety. Our server was fantastic! It was so good we came back later in our stay!

Cute little spot that is great for brunch. I was looking for something light while I was wasting time, and ended up getting the deviled eggs and the crab cakes.

The deviled eggs were the 2nd worst deviled eggs I have ever had. That’s not to say they were horrible by any means, but they were mediocre at best. They didn’t taste fresh, and I thought the presentation was some of the worst I have ever seen, It looked like I ordered deviled eggs from a sports bar at a mall, or from a place like Buffalo Wild Wings. The potato chips and bacon added nothing to the dish and felt like an afterthought. A complete disappointment.

The crab cakes, however, were the complete opposite. One of the best crab cakes I have ever had. I normally don’t take pictures of food after I have cut into it, but I had to show the inside of these cakes! There was hardly any binder, it was all crab, and it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly fried, seasoned, and a complete homerun.

If I had only had the deviled eggs, this would be a 2-star review in my opinion and I would never think about coming back. That being said, the crab cakes really saved my experience and my rating. I would gladly come back for the crab cakes and to try something else.

My friend and I were walking around the area to find a place to eat lunch on Saturday. We happened to be really close by and we were able to get a table inside without a reservation at around 1:30pm. We were excited cause the restaurant atmosphere was really cozy but it took awhile for our waitress to come take our order, we had to flag them down and ask to order. We ordered a BLT with a side salad, a brussels and kale salad, and a side of fries. Unfortunately, we waited a long time to receive our food, about 40 minutes. Since we were facing the kitchen, it seemed like they were prioritizing take out orders while working on dine in orders. By the time we got our food, the restaurant was nearly empty and we were really hungry. Although, the food was really good, they gave a really good amount of bacon on the BLT but I wish my side salad had more dressing. Not sure if I’d come back based on the wait we had but I would give it another chance to try the other food items on the menu.

I was here last night on a date, the weather was perfect to dine out on the patio. I’m a big fan of Shrimp & Grits, so that was my entree of choice, but I forgot about the andouille sausage, I don’t eat pork. I just picked around it. The Shrimp & Grits were decent. My cocktail of choice was “The Buckingham” it was good, so good that I tried another cocktail called “The Bean”. The cocktails were satisfying.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal in this beautiful place. We sampled widely with the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, and cornbread. Order the cornbread; it was amazing.

Note to the restaurant–you marked us as not attending in Open Table–can you correct this?

Glad I stumbled onto this place. We were staying in Old Town area and wanted to stop in for an early lunch before heading to Michigan Ave. Glad we did. The place was very cute. It was a little windy and warm so we opted to stay indoor but the outdoor area is very well done. Beautiful. Food was really good. Get the fried chicken – I chose the sandwich and was glad I did. Everything was tasty. We ended with a key lime pie.

Blue Door Kitchen & Garden is such a hidden gem in Chicago—perfect for smaller weddings with incredible food, a warm, intimate vibe, and the kindest staff. As a wedding photographer, I absolutely loved this space. It felt totally private to the couple—no other events, no distractions—just a beautiful, relaxed garden setting in the heart of the city.

The courtyard has such a romantic, tucked-away feel, and the entire day flowed so effortlessly. The food was AMAZING – from the flavor to the presentation. If you’re planning a smaller wedding, this is the place. And if you pair it with Christine Janda Design and Events and her design team? Pure magic.
