The people and service is top notch, while the food is… Ok. Pulled pork doesn’t really have any smoke to it, collards were very sweet, hash is good but very different than to what I’m used to further down south in the state. Still good though. Overall I’d give the food a 6.5/10. Good if you just need a nice hot meal. But for smoky barbecue… Sorry it’ll have to be somewhere else

If you’re a local, then you already know how good Midway BBQ is. If you’re traveling through the little town of Buffalo, then you HAVE to stop by & eat at Midway! Known for their hash & chicken stew, their daily meat & 3 plates are the best around as well. Jay & his crew are a staple in the community. Save room for the banana pudding!!

Midway is on the SC BBQ trail because it has been providing great southern food since 1941. It is known for “white” bar-be-que beef hash. If you have never had hash, it is a true Carolina staple. Also, try the chicken stew .

I can’t say enough good about the food at Midway. Not only does my workplace use the catering, but I am also a regular especially on Friday for their smoked turkey dinner – the mac and cheese – heavenly gold, the broccoli casserole – to die for! Definitely a lunch favorite and also a takeout for home meals!

The atmosphere is what you would expect for BBQ. The tea was really sweet. The cornbread was spongy like cake. The pulled pork did need sauce. The Coleslaw was okay, not great. Reasonably priced for what you get.

We visited from Hickory NC, the has is phenomenal absolutely worth the 2 hour drive!!!!! The owners are super nice and make you feel like old friends. The staff is welcoming and helpful!!! I only wish they had one in Hickory!!!!! Looking forward to our next visit! Take the chance and go they are worth it!!!!!

Been here twice now and this is by far the best barbecue restaurant in the Carolinas so far that I’ve been here twice now. Luckily that I’m only about 25 minutes away staff is very helpful and friendly they do sell out of a lot of stuff so the earlier you get there the better. There’s always a line every time I’ve been there they also have a little meat store as you walk in their side dishes are phenomenal their brisket is really good I’ve also had chicken and dumplings this is my go-to place and what I would recommend to anybody if they’re down in the upstate area wanting fantastic barbecue!

Changed my food review from 3 to 2 start. The single 2-pics are from this morning. I had a whole tray of BURNED okra and another plate also had BURNED okra. NO EXCUSE! No crowds that early to put this on people’s plates. So, the two-pics show a whole tray of burnt okra from previous review and this time today I took pics of single pieces of okra to show you (hopefully) how bad it is today. So, I guess you don’t care! Other people are complaining about it AGAIN! So, I guess we won’t be back for awhile. If you get okra there, you will be good but be careful if you order to go with your okra!
Midway has always produced quality food over the years, but here again, the lack of getting 3-orders right has become habit forming and having to run back up the road to get it corrected or just the normal sides they leave off the plate is getting old plus once again in the past few weeks burnt okra and over cooked chicken. If this keeps up, we will stop ordering food from here and that is 3-plates several times a week, every week (old and health issues). Please get this under control so we can enjoy our food again. Btw, the pics do NOT truly show how burnt it is! I guarantee you, that you would NOT eat it yourself so, why would you put it on someone else’s plate? I heard other people complaining too!

Stopped at their food truck for BBQ sandwich w/slaw, mac and cheese side. Great food. I might have to try the original restaurant in Buffalo now. Seems like a worthwhile drive. The side of mac and cheese was huge. Good deal.
