So. Much. Food!!!!
Every time I come here I have yet to be disappointed. The food is amazing, I have yet to completely finish my plate.
The atmosphere and decor remind me of 70’s and 80’s diners back in the day.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for a while and always enjoyed it — until today. The menu clearly states that the Eggs Benedict comes with your choice of toast or pancakes for $14.99. I asked for pancakes instead of toast, but when the bill came, I was charged an additional $3.50.
When I asked, the waitress (who also claimed to be the manager) said that because Eggs Benedict is served on an English muffin, I wasn’t eligible for toast or pancakes. That’s not what the menu says, and it felt like a made-up excuse to pad the bill.

I’ve worked in food service. I understand how tough the job is. I usually tip 20% or more for good service. But this felt dishonest and manipulative — especially because the charge wasn’t disclosed until the check came. It also makes me question whether this kind of “policy” gets applied inconsistently based on assumptions about who will speak up.
I hope the owners see this, because I used to love coming here. Now I won’t be back.
By the way? Iowa Consumer Fraud Act (Iowa Code §714.16) prohibits:
• Deceptive or misleading advertising
• Bait-and-switch practices
• Failure to honor listed prices or terms
Menus are not binding contracts in the legal sense, but they do function as advertised representations. If you are led to believe something is included and it’s not — especially with a charge added after the fact — that can rise to consumer fraud or deceptive trade practices. Ask yourself how you know that it’s just a mistake, and not price profiling based on your appearance or your membership in a protected group.

Experienced a miscommunication where our table was cleared without being served, manager rectified the situation, and respected our complaint, she handled the entire situation with grace. We recieved our order to-go instead and the food was fresh and delicious. I have a lot of respect for the way she resolved the situation.

Horrible service. Food was not good at all me and my kids decided to go here for a quick dinner My food didn’t even get made till my kids were done eating and they charge me almost $11 in gratituity without letting me know the table was filthy two of my kids had to send their silverware back cuz it literally had food on it. The floor had napkins and food on it. They wouldn’t even box my meal up to go they brought it to me on a plate as we were walking out and made me put it in it to go box.
This used to be one of my favorite places to eat but I will never go back absolutely horrible.

The food was good, but the service sucked when we got there it was not busy and they told us it would be 20 minutes to get our food not sure why but I might give them another shot because the food was ok

I ate dinner at 6 pm on a Monday night and I was seated right away. My server came over and gave me a menu and took my drink order. When she returned with my drink, I ordered the Hot Turkey sandwich along with mashed potatoes and gravy.
My order came right out, and it was a nice portion of hand carved Turkey along with a double scoop of mashed potatoes. This Turkey tastes just like Thanksgiving, it was fantastic. It was tender and moist. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also very good.
Everything about this place was good, I will definitely be back.

I have never had a bad meal at Horizon. While they have a full menu of other items, I always end up ordering breakfast. It is just that good. Pictured is the Hungry Man and Polar Bear Waffle. Absolutely delicious! Fast service in a mom and pop environment.

Amazing place to eat. Wish this was a nationwide chain. Owners were so friendly and the staff was awesome. Menu was a delight so many delicious dishes to choose from. I wish I lived closer. I will make sure to route trips by this place whenever traveling just to eat here. If you pass this place you have to stop and give it a try.

First time visiting this establishment. I would have to say I was not very impressed. First lets start off with the outdated decor and uncomfortable booth seating. The window planks were dirty and full of crumbs and dust. I ordered chicken fried steak, over medium eggs , pancakes, hash browns and coffee. I was not happy to be given vegetable spread, I and many others prefer real butter. The pancakes were to sweet as sugar was added to the mix . The chicken fried was a shame . I knew immediately this was not fresh and frozen based off how the batter was on the steak and the chewiness of the meat. Honestly i was very disappointed. The coffee was mediocre and tasted sour , not sure if it was from coffee or coffee containers that looked to be from the 70s . Another thing that annoyed me was the waitress put my ticket on the table while i was only about 3-4 mins into my meal. This is a big NO NO . Let me feel relaxed and not rushed.

Very disappointed with our service today. Our server was extremely rude and dismissive, making us feel unwelcome from the start.We were polite and patient, but her attitude was unprofessional and made the entire experience unpleasant. Definitely not the kind of service we expected. Will not be eating here again.
