Tucked into a block crowded with restaurants, it’s easy to pass over WestOak in favor of one of the bigger names nearby, but doing so would be a mistake.
At first glance, the patio and facade blend in seamlessly with the surrounding Yaletown aesthetic, much like many of the neighboring spots. What truly sets WestOak apart, however, is the service and the food. Although it appeared to be a quieter evening, the service was exceptional. We were seated promptly, and our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. Everything arrived quickly, often without having to ask, and sometimes before we even realized we needed it.
The food was equally impressive. We started with a calamari dish that was bright, fresh, and easily the best I have had in recent memory. For my main, I ordered the lamb shank, which was excellent. My usual benchmark for lamb is The Greek just a few doors down, but WestOak is giving them serious competition. The drink menu is also well curated, with a solid selection of beers, wines, and cocktails.
We were unfortunately too full to try dessert, though the options looked tempting and are reason enough to return. I am already looking forward to coming back to try more.

WestOak continues to impress on the food front. I’ve been here 3 times now, and the quality of the dishes has been consistently excellent. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared, with WestOak’s Famous Chinois Prawns and the Grass-fed Ribeye steak standing out. The prawns were perfectly cooked and coated in a rich housemade aioli (mayo-like), while the steak was beautifully seared, tender, and showcased the quality of the grass-fed beef.
For the price point, the taste and ingredient quality really deliver. The only DISAPPOINTMENT during my last two visits was the service — everything took noticeably longer than expected, from ordering to being served, and overall attentiveness felt lacking. That said, the food itself still met expectations, which is why I continue to return.

I visited WestOak during a busy Dine Out week. We were seated on the covered patio, which was well-heated and comfortable despite the restaurant being at full capacity.
Menu Highlights
We ordered from the regular menu rather than the seasonal prix-fixe:
The Fish: This was the standout of the meal; very well-prepared.
Broccolini Salad: A delicious highlight that we really enjoyed.
Steak: Ordered medium, though it arrived closer to medium-well (see photo).
Service Observations
While the atmosphere was good, there were a few misses in the service flow:
Bottled drinks were served without glassware. We had to request glasses, which took some time to arrive.
Our table setting was missing a knife for one guest.
The salad was served without tongs, so we had to wait for a serving utensil to be brought to the table.

Great restaurant in Yaletown! Food was great and menu is extensive yet still short enough to fit on one page for lunch! In terms of the food itself, great flavours and portion sizes, definitely a plus.
Service during lunch hour was a little slow, which understandably is the slower time of restaurants in general, however it seems the kitchen also only started making the ordered main AFTER we finished the appetizer, cause unnecessary delays and waiting.
Atmosphere was excellent the arrangement of plants and wood columns adds a touch to the overall ambiance! Layout could use some rearranging though, as some areas are really squishy.
Definitely worth to check out!

We came here last year for light snack and hangout. At first, we ordered only pasta, truffle fries, and their dessert. Their dessert with kind of apple pie and ice cream on top is so yummy.
However, when we decided to come back and try to ordered their main menu, we kinda disappointed. My salad is not tasty and my friend had a cauliflower steak which has no spices felt on the steak.
Service was okay, interior is fancy.

I rarely get delivery that tastes this good, but West Oak absolutely blew me away!!!! The food was incredible, fresh, and full of flavor, but I have to stop everything and talk about the cookies… HOLY. SHIT.
They are hands-down the BEST cookies ever!!!!!!!! Always warm, soft, gooey, and melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Half white chocolate, half chocolate chip — the balance is unreal. I’m obsessed. These are honestly in my top favorite desserts of all time, not just from delivery but anywhere.
West Oak has quickly become one of my top spots. If the delivery is this amazing, I can only imagine how incredible dining in must be — and I cannot wait to go in person. For anyone debating, trust me: order the cookies, and thank me later.

We had a great time at West Oak. They are open late, staff very nice, the quality of food is amazing. The mushroom risotto, perfection with lots of flavour. I would have taken more pictures but we were so hungry. We drove from Abbotsford and Langley to get to West Oak and it was 100% worth it.

We ordered the ribeye steak and stablefish salad and it was absolutely amazing! Surpassed our we expectations for the quality, the freshness of the seafoods and the amount. The ribeye steak was well prepared. And for 7oz steak for $32 is a steal.We will try for dinner next time.
