Cozy little town eatery. Serving anything BBQ& smoked you can think of. The prices are good and the quantity and quality of food even better! It’s a busy, hopping lil’ place, but the wait wasn’t too bad and worth it.
The potato salad was a good southern style type, and the coleslaw even though it’s red is not overpowered w vinegar. Glad we Google Mapped it ahead of our route coming home from Louisiana!
Thank you BackCountry Barbeque for the fantastic lunch!

When I’m home, this is my go to barbeque place. I have never been disappointed. I have always been treated like I belong there. Friendly service, great food, and a wonderful location.

Small, hole in the wall BBQ restaurant in Linwood (lexington, NC). Off the beaten path and probably blink and youll miss it. Not too big, not too small.
Service was quick, food was out quick, hot and tasty. Everything tasted good. There was a sweetness to the brisket I wasnt a big fan off, but thats just me. The brisket was pull apart tender, not all fatty and moist. I had the potato salad with, which was good, just something a ingredient I couldnt put my finger on was a tad too much on the backend.
She got the chicken and pork combo, both good. Baked beans were real good. Fries, while fresh are just standard crinkle cut, nothing special. Now the hushpuppies…they were damn good. Perfect sized, not too oniony, browned to perfection.
Our server was patient and all smiles, noise level was perfect and the price was as expected for a meat oriented establishment. Overall, a good experience and good food.

I love Lexington bbq. We came thru on Sunday, and most places were closed. It was a pleasant surprise to find Backcountry open. We were greeted immediately upon walking in and seated just as fast. We hit them just at 1 pm. We got our drinks just after being seated. Menus were at the table, and while I didn’t need it, the spread they offered looked amazing as we watched the various meats come from the kitchen. We got pulled pork and brisket and the slaw. Pork was tender and flavorful. Their sauce wasn’t overbearing, but if you wanted more, they brought some for you. Brisket was also amazing, though they could do without saucing it and leave that up to the customer. The meat should stand on its own, and I prefer brisket without sauce. Again, it was still very tasty and tender.

Have no idea what the food is like. First time in and we had a question about what type of meat was “chopped meat” vs “sliced meat”. The crabby waitress with the curly white hair just looked at us like we were idiots and answered “…it’s chopped or sliced” Okay, but what kind of meat is it? Beef? Chicken? She finally answers that it’s pork. We then tell her that we need a few more minutes to decide on what we’d like to order. She brought our waters over and that’s the last time she came over to our table. We motioned to her that we were ready to order, made eye contact several times. She proceeded to go clean off a table, take other tables orders and help a customer place an order at the counter and checked out another table. Fed up, we just decided to leave. Who knows how long it would’ve taken to get our food.

Every time I come to Lexington, I’ll stop here for the Brisket sandwich. Not over cooked and dried out. Delicious!

My wife and I love the brisket plate. The baked potatoes are perfectly done. The brisket is wonderful with a large portion of meat. The baked beans are delicious. I almost always get takeout but when I do dine-in the wait staff treats all like family. Just wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often.

Best bbq chicken i have tried! An give you lots of food for the price. 1/2 chicken and 2 big sides and hush puppies or a roll. Have tried many bbq places high point, thomasville, lexington as i drive trucks but none has been as delicious as here! An very fast service had a call in they literally had it ready in 7 or 8 mins! Def recommend this place!

Great little dinner spot on our road trip. They were pretty busy when we arrived, but we didn’t wait long for a table or service. We had the beef plate and meat combo with brisket and pork. The brisket was super tender, hush puppies were great, the potato salad and coleslaw were amazing, and the staff was very friendly.

If you’re used to unseasoned food then this is the spot for you! Food is bland. It’s a shame, because I thought since Lexington is known for their bbq then this would be good. Plus all the reviews I see are good. But this was very disappointing. Food had no flavor and was very plain tasting.
