Imagine the aroma of smokers at the roadside shacks and mom & pop drive-ins south of the Mason Dixon line. Commonwealth BBQ’s meats are pit smoked over hard woods for endless hours, acquiring the authentic flavors that make it real BBQ. We hope you enjoy eating it as much as we enjoy bringing it to you!

Thirsty and in need of smoked meats, I and 5 others happened to have been in the Wrentham area…one a BBQ fanatic insisted we try Commonwealth BBQ. First there was a fair amount of parking, but it was 2ish in the afternoon, the lot was pretty full but able to accommodate 4 cars. This is an outdoors dining experience. We lined up at the windows to order. We all were very thirsty. I had 2 Peach Peace Teas. The fellows had: 2 Frescas, two diet cakes, a water, and a grape Fanta. I waited about 10ish minutes for my food. Everything came nicely packaged. Oh the order…right. I ordered fried pickles (regular or large). I ordered a regular, it was massive. The pickles are lightly battered. The pickles are really great pickles. I also ordered for sharing: pork belly. It came with black beans and rice. Commonwealth offers a mixture of BBQ sauce…They smack to use a hep term…It is outrageously good. I also ordered a 2 meat platter with 2 sides and the meal came with corn bread. I had brisket, sausage, mac n cheese, and cowboy beans. The cowboys were spicy but really good!!! (A). The mac n cheese consisted of a light cheese sauce (A). The sausage was really nicely Spiced and amazing in the BBQ dipping sauces, I recommend the Lee’s sauce. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the brisket. It had a nice smoked taste, but it was dry and a little hard. The sauce fixed it, but it was a solid B. I am tempted to go back another day to see if it was just that piece…however as I am writing this piece, my friend the Dr. of Taco, the fanatic called to discuss our late lunch. He asked me if I had a dried up experience…alas so had he. Again we both agreed maybe it was that cut…because everything else was very very good. My overall is A-. The servers and I hardly interacted just do it being a busy place and the ordering style. The picnic tables were okay but few. The get your own sauce was amazing. I am about to pig out on a few left overs…Til next time Commonwealth BBQ

Best burrito of my life! The further south burrito with chicken. Cucumber salad for a side. The sweet potato fries are incredible. The burrito was well constructed with a flakey grilled wrap. Shall be back to try more!

I’ve been coming to Commonwealth BBQ for longer than I can remember. I’ve always consistently had great BBQ. I’ve recently ordered for the first time the BBQ Pork Belly over rice dish that has become a new favorite.
I feel like this dish is low key Slept on but definitely worth a try.

Amazing service and even better food! My favorite is the pulled pork and the brisket was a close second! I find it hard to find a cornbread that isn’t dry but theirs was light and fluffy. We tried the mac & cheese, collard greens, coleslaw, beans, pulled chicken, & sausage. It was all worth the hour drive for us! I would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back!

I have been here a handful of times, it never disappoints! I’ve had the wings, chicken sandwich, pulled pork. This time I got a small snack- the jalapeno poppers and the chilli with cornbread. The poppers were unique and would def get again. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu

This was literally a meal that made my entire day. The flavor and the spices from this meat is making me smile ear to ear. I had the pork belly which is the juiciest piece of meat since Georgia this guy is top-tier, and boy does he know how to cook some barbecue!!! I don’t know who he is. He wears a hat and had what I thought was a goatee, but I’ll tell you what That pork belly will set you free with that bourbon glaze. Never mind the habanero hot sauce. OH. MY. GOD. The shredded pork is also outstanding. I included a picture of that too in the cup. You have to go there and try this! It’s tender. It’s flavorful it’s juicy and you just leave feeling happy. I’m not sure if the fat hit my brain or what but I feel like Extra pep in my step from all that goodness like a new level of dopamine it.

Stopped by Commonwealth BBQ in Wrentham for lunch and wow, it was delicious!
I chose the two-meat platter with sliced brisket and smoked chicken breast. For my sides, I strayed from my usual choices and ordered collard greens and black beans and rice with corn bread. Oh snap! It was so good!
The brisket, a very large portion, was tender and perfectly smoked. The smoked chicken breast was likely the best I’ve ever tasted. Neither meat really needed extra sauce, but I was sauce-curious, so I gave it a try. It was very good, not exactly what I’m used to, but tasty nonetheless.
The sides were great. The corn bread, was very good and moist. Perfectly tasty. The black beans and rice were really just okay. But definitely edible. But those collard greens were off the hook delicious!
Tons of delicious BBQ and sides at a reasonable price.

I have been coming here since they opened. They do a great job with their meats. My daughter and I absolutely love the beef ribs. They are extremely tender and flavorful. The meat falls off the bone. Delicious with or without barbecue sauce. Commonwealth BBQ is a smoke shack on 1a near 495 with two windows. The left window is where you order. Then they give you a number and you wait at a picnic table or in your car for them to yell out your number like a rigged bingo game. You know it’s going to happen. You can eat there at the picnic tables, in your car with a ton of napkins and wet Wipes, just wait until you get home.. They wrap the meat in foil, everything stays hot. Tonight my daughter bad a half-rack of beef ribs, mac n cheese and chili. I had the same, except corn on the cob instead of mac n cheese. Both came with cornbread! Food was absolutely delicious! We took it home. The smell permeated my vehicle. It was like a Pavlovs experiment. Definitely recommend, especially the beef ribs! The chili is also delicious and full of meat! Get a full rack, they’re just as good the next day.

OMG Fantastic Food!!!!
We tried a bit of everything tonight…Meat Mac, Loaded Chili Fries, Brisket, Sausage, Boneless Chicken Breast, Collard Greens, Mac n Cheese, Black Beans Rice, and Cornbread.
Not a bad note in this symphony! Everything was delicious, tender, savory, and spicy, where it should be.
A small “Take-Out” type of place. LOTS of clean picnic tables.
Color me a repeat customer!!!
